Ingram, 28, has hired a new agency to represent him, signing with Detroit-based VIP Sports Management and agents Paul Bobbitt and David Jones. Previously, Ingram was represented by Joel Segal of Lagardere Sports and Entertainment, an international agency with offices in New York, Dallas and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Ingram had the best season of his seven-year NFL career in 2017, running for career highs of 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had career highs with 58 receptions for 416 yards, showcasing the versatility the Saints desire in their backs.

It's unclear the reason for Ingram's change in representation, which VIP Sports announced in a news release Tuesday (April 17). In 2015, Ingram signed a four-year, $16 million deal to stay with the Saints. That deal will expire after the 2018 season, making next season a contract year for the productive back.

"I am excited to join the VIP team," Ingram said in a statement. "Paul and David are smart, aggressive guys who really look out for the best interests of their players, on and off the field."

I’ve said numerous times that Ingram is extremely likely to hold out before the season and I hope we offer a reasonable extension in advance of the holdout

Why would he think this. I’m sure he’s trying to lock down who he feels is his best representation for his last shot at making money during his playing career.

Doubt he would make such a stupid move.

Nothing stupid about it if we don’t make a more in the draft.

He would be negotiating his final deal at the dreaded “30 years old” mark for a running back. His last bit of leverage is holding out before this season.

Look he’s not trying for a megadeal so a reasonable extension is likely

I kind of get the feeling they’re going to try to use AK in a Le’veon Bell type roll and cut ties with Ingram

Just a gut feeling based on nothing at all or what?

Yeah pretty much. No inside knowledge I just don't think they're going to want to pay top $ for both. Especially when I saw them running AK in the slot.

It's kinda like the Astros. They're not going to be able to pay all of the young studs unless the players take unselfish contracts. Someone is going to have to be let loose.

Will definitely help free up some cap space that we would've had to give to him now that he's only available for about 3/4 of the year.

Mark is playing out the scenario of what you don't want to do when you are an aging running back in a contract year.

Last year as a Saint. He won't be a positive impact until week 7. Payton gets rid of players like that.
