Awesome idea.
Give up a starter for a bench warmer.
Thanks atlanta

What do you think about Hackenberg?

Draft him next year, let him sit behind Drew and train for 2-3 then.....

But training behind Drew for 2-3 years, you don't think he would turn out great?

ANYONE who thinks we are stockpiling draft picks to trade away two FIRSTS to move up and draft a QB has no idea what the hell they are talking about.

This team has a major talent and attitude problem and the one place that that is not is the QB position. This is a ridiculously suggestion.

We simply do not have the luxury of taking a QB in the high rounds this year. If they like someone they may pick one up in the later rounds and work with them for a while. That is all.

This next season will tell a ton about him. Not sure if he wasn't just greatly coached up by O'Brien his freshman year.

Anybody that thinks that Brees gets traded or cut by the Saints is dumb as a sack of hammers. He retires in NOLA.

Agree.

I know the groom someone thing is popular but i like Indy's model. Sell out as much as you can to win now with your HOF QB. Then spend the next year dumping/eating salary, drafting young talent and stink up the place for the #1 pick and hope it a good year for QB's for the following year.

Hack with an uptick in production will be out of our reach next year. Mariota doesn't seem to be out of our reach this year because we are building from 1.13. Next year we would be looking more at Jared Goff, 3rd QB but still 1st round. Probably a more Payton ready prospect, too. Then he'd have 1 year behind Drew. At this pace, we shouldn't expect Drew to be traded, but he won't be resigned either after this contract. When they announced they would NOT be restructuring his contract to save cap space, the writing was on the wall. Bears will suck, Hack to Bears.

Ok. Let's say he's there at 13. I wouldn't pass then with the same development plan. I have a feeling about the kid, that's all.

A restructure did nothing for the Saints this year. It doesn't mean anything about the possible and likely extension next year

I'm ok with losing for a few years after drew retires while we try to find the next long term starter. But while drew is here we need to utilize every single draft pick to help him.

1. His idea is stupid..
2. There are no guarantees that we have enough to offer to get the MM without mortgaging our entire draft
3. No guarantees that we'd get enough in return for Brees
4. You're telling the captian of the team and the heart and soul of the city that we are only giving you one more year to win here and then it's goodbye
5. No telling how mariotta will pan out
6. There may be QBs for the future that the organization already has their eyes on
7. The Rams might not want to make the trade
8. We could get into a bidding war with another team

9. MM wont fall to number 10

I mean I would think everyone would trade a few more bad season for another Super Bowl. So why would be waste Drew's talent on developing the future. The reality is it is likely Drew will be the best QB to ever play as a Saint for decades or ever. He will be among the all time greats when he retires.
