So much "credit" for what? Constantly putting a band aid on a franchise to continue to sell a fan base on a Super Bowl when they haven't won since 2009
I never thought I'd witness with my own eyes us winning the SB.

We should have went to two more and got screwed out of them against the Rams and Vikings (Rudolph OPI).

The day was going to come when we had to pay for kicking the can down the road.

I think you mean San Francisco’s first round draft pick, because that’s the only first round draft pick Denver has. Of course, that is essentially a second round draft pick.

If Denver had its own draft pick (instead of Seattle getting it for Russell Wilson), then you might be in the ball park. But, San Francisco’s first round draft pick is just way too low. The Saints would have to get a lot more -- like a couple second round of thrown in.

just stop it. It's Denver's pick they own that pick stop with semantics. it's not "essentially a 2nd" it's a 1st.

Payton is an asset we cannot use so even if we get 2 late 1sts it's better than nothing.

Carolina would be a complete slap in the face.

Still think it’ll be Denver in the end. It’s the only owner I can see ponying up that kind of money for Payton

The only way the Saints get nothing is if Peyton sits out for the next two years. And that ain’t gonna happen. Right now the Saints are in the best position possible and they dictate where Sean Payton will coach next year and what the price is going to be. Next year, they’ll still have leverage and can still get consideration, it’s just that their leverage this year is much greater.

And taking a very late first round draft pick in this year’s draft is bullsh!t.

Sean Payton was overrated. He had the 3rd/4th (Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees) best HOF QB in his era and only made one super bowl.

If Saints get two first round picks for him would be awesome.

I sure hope that Loomis doesn't have this shitty arse attitude. You maximize your return and play hardball long before you take a bullshite offer just because "it's better than nothing"

Were you happy with the 6th round pick for Gardner Johnson? I mean, it was "better than nothing" !!!!

Denver would be picking 5th this season had they not traded it. Are the chances that pick goes top 10 again, 11-20, or 20+ next season? I say 11-20 is most likely

Denver defense is damn good. They just need a somewhat competent offense and they will be fine. They will get that if they trade for Payton. If the offense could have scored 24 points a game this season they would have been like 13-4 thanks to that defense.I think they are a playoff team with Payton.

I can see team owners supporting a big asking price for a HC trade between teams. I just don't think the owners want to make this a habit for coaches walking away to move to another organization.

If the price for a HC like Payton is a mid first, that is cheap and I think there would be a very good possibly super bowl and playoff coaches would start exploring their option while under contract.

I don't think he said he was a frontrunner. More so a "surprise candidate".

And I would also melt for sure if I were a Broncos fan.

Also, the Broncos didn't acquire Wilson just to pair him with Shaw

Really hope he doesn’t go to Carolina.

Don’t want to face him twice a year.

for sure. for some reason a large contingency of fans around here are fine with taking basically nothing for payton because they think we should settle for minimal compensation. we trade multiple 1st round picks for mediocre players very few years. no way I am taking just a single mid-late 1st rounder for payton. he can sit on the sidelines for 2 years if its not at least 2 1sts. no way you trade one of the most proven offensive minds in nfl history for a mid-late 1st. anyone saying that is straight stupid.

The saints do not dictate where Payton will coach. Payton dictates that. we will not trade him to the Texans if he doesn't want to go there.

But the Saints have the ultimate veto. It doesn’t f*cking matter where Sean Payton wants to go if the Saints don't let him. And, by "don't let him," I mean the Saints don't agree to the compensation offered.

The Saints do dictate whether he's allowed to coach there though. Not enough compensation he can sit his arse on Fox for another year.
