Generic answers
Name a player and n another that does what Taysom does. You can’t.

Seems like you could get good RBs, TE, ST etc for 17 mil.
Like who? Name the awesome players you could get. Who do the saints cut to make room for them?

I would, but I’m still wondering what Taysom actually does.

If it were so easy to find a single player to do all of the things he does, why haven't we seen the Saints or any other team play a utility player like Taysom?

The Saints/SP created the GB, gadget back. Takes a special skill set that includes QB. Not many of those around. Our 7th round pick this year is a GB with Hill as backup QB.

Refuse to do it? Do they even have the ABILITY to do it?

These goofballs must think Kordell Stewart and Antwan Randle El are still in the NFL. They know that there aren’t many 6’2 230 lbs QBs that run a 4.4 forty with the ability to return kicks and rush on the punt block team. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a QB return kicks on at any major level of Football. It obvious that Hill has shown Payton that he’s more that a filler for Brees down the line. You don’t pay a utility player 17 million if he hasn’t shown the ability to run the offense at least in practice.

And if you disagree; please tell us what he does bring that any other athletic player wouldn’t.
You could line Kamara there, and it just becomes the Wildcat. He can't actually read the defense and then make an accurate throw in tempo 20-30 yds downfield, with anything near the appropriate touch.
Same thing applies to just about every other great RB/TE/WR. Interesting run package, if they even have a pass option it's 1 target, 2 at absolute most. Taysom can throw the deep slants and posts, crossing routes etc.
Alternatively, your backup QB can make those throws, but doesn't burn safeties in coverage or steamroll defenders on runs.
The general hope is that whatshisname from Miss State can do this, too. Quite possibly Tim Tebow could have, but didn't want to cede the fulltime QB position. Jalen Hurts could, but after going pretty high in the draft, he's also likely going to cling to being a QB- lots more money and longevity in that, if you can stick. Plus, you become "the man".
Takes a unique circumstance to make this work- it's not a long-term position in the NFL. Running QBs break down a lot earlier than pocket guys, you can go through 2-4 of them in the career of one good passing guy. And that's not even being a receiver.

This is such a stupid question I'll respond stupidly.... We obviously all can't be Frank, you realize the confusion it would cause here?

Name a player in the NFL that could block, catch passes, throw passes somewhat competently, and run the ball as well as him.
Don't forget very good tackler too. Special teams best all around returning kicks, covering kicks, gunning on punts, blocking punts, and converting punt fakes.
But maybe Sammy Baugh? He was a beast like that. I've compared them before and I think you get a player like that that's once a generation or two they're special. You try to keep them. Just true all around ballers.
But current player? Nah.

Over two years. All seven of them.

How many of those can he throw?

So, a truck play RB; who can sometimes pass?

I don’t know. TH is getting pretty good money.

So, TH isn’t the man.

Well, I guess it makes me more comfortable knowing TH isn’t the long term answer for us.

there is nothing anyone can say to you to answer your question, because you do not want an actual answer. people have offered up info to answer your questions, and you blissfully ignore it to stay after your own idea of things - which is great, if you do not want to engage in discussion.
you can't ask a question, ignore the replies to it, ignore questions others pose back to get an idea of what you are thinking - and then continue to stay with the original question - it is pointless

Anyone ever tell you that you are complete dumbass? Because you truly are.
If its the money he is getting paid in his new contract that you are worried about well that contract tells you everything you need to know. His cap hit this year is about 4 mil because this year he will be the jack of all trades and that's what he is getting paid for this year. Next year his cap hit is about 16 mil because he will be our starting QB and be on the 1 year prove it part of his contract. So if you're one of the dumbasses that cant grasp him being our starter even though our coach has said it 1200 times then the way that contract is set up should tell you. So open your eyes to whats actually going on.
Oh and Stevens is here to be the jack of all trades next year and going forward after Taysom takes over as the starter by the way. He is not here to play QB.
Posted on 5/8/20 at 11:06 am to Errerrerrwere
He pretty much beat the Vikings in the playoffs and Brees lost us that game.
That's something.
That's something.

I think I’ve responded a quite bit, no?
All I am getting is a generic answer of how he is versatile.

Saying he doesn't bring much to the team besides athelticism is sorta generic
Honestly if oyu want to argue he is overpaid for what he does? how can you not.
He's getting high end backup money and he isn't really our backup.
What he does on the field isn't worth the price tag. He is clearly getting paid because Payton things he can be the QB going forward.

I do a radio show on ESPN which gives me access to many people in the organization and I have alot of inside and connections with this team. So when I tell you he is our starter next year, he is 100% our starter next year weather you like it or not. I would lay my life on this fact.
