This is a much needed attitude that this defense needs...and it all starts with this guy. I'm so ready for an aggressive, get after your arse, balls to the wall, in your face, hard-core nasty defense.

If Williams can get this defense to play even half way better than that laid back crap we put up with coupled with a high-powered offense and a solid kicking game...this team can be a serious threat to make a deep run.

The jury is still out though but I'm pumped!!!

The comments after that article are hilarious. One guy said his eyes had an orgasm after reading.

thats intense stuff. you gotta like that. this defense and overall team needs that. he's also a very professional coordinator.. doesnt just rely on yelling etc.. i like that as well.

jenkins is dead on:

quote:

"He's the type of guy who is real, real smart, but he's not going to take no stuff from you, basically, " Jenkins said. "That's the type of coach I like, that can rip you but still teach you. He set the tone in the first meeting with us, he said as a defense we're going to set the tone, we're not going to react to what the offense does, we're going to dictate the practice."

i like how chip vaughn was the first one mentioned in the interviews. he's probably got that knock out mentality to go along with his physicality.

Why would any coach on this planet play that bent but don't break crap? What player in the NFL doesn't like playing attack defense?

From the comments:

where can i get a greg williams jersey?

If the D lives up to the hype, the Saints are going to have to come out with something for the fans.

Its so comforting to have a good fricking coach finally on D that realizes our general approach on that side of the ball was unacceptable.

something that LSU's defense has suffered from underneath the Bo Pelini era and came to a full meltdown under the two stooges last season, I'm happy to see the Saints finally have someone that will just turn'em loose and let them play football, that read and react shite is for the trash can.

I agree we do need that Defensive attitude and play. It's all for not, however, if we don't get a freakin' power running back that is NFL starter material for the duration of a season.

Yeah, defense won't matter unless we have Ricky Williams again.

The power back thing is the stupidest saints board fad. Jesus Christ, our line is not built for the power game. It's something we'll have to get creative with.
