This...plus, just like you can't coach height in basketball, you can't coach size either, but you can sure coach potential, and you can't deny, Woods has unlimited potential, & can be a great run stopper. Besides, he is a 4th round pick; not like we used a 1st or 2nd...I think he is worth the chance. In fact, so far in this draft, we seem to be drafting a lot on potential- all of our draft picks seem to be the type that either become dominant starters or complete busts. They are not all going to make it, but that goes for any draft. I just want to see a couple of good starters come out of this draft in the next couple of years...

yup
we're drafting a lot of raw athletes who are boom/bust

I think every coach and gm would like to do this every year but with the short windows they have to win, they have to pick less talented more polished players rather than the kids with the most potential. With the leeway Payton and Loomis have now, I think they can afford to do this every year as long as we don't drop below .500

to be fair, they've always done this under the SP regime. that's why our drafting is always inconsistent
our front office is very solid in FA/trading in this regime...drafting is so-so

What did Kiper and McShay say about Woods?

Payton's only poor draft was 07, right? But the talent that came out of '06 is just frickin retarded.

Woods could be a good NT in a 3-4,
at 309 lbs?
Q: Do you see Woods as a nose tackle?
Loomis: “I think so. That’s where we would project him right now.”

he will be the anti glenn dorsey...a non-factor in college but a beast in the pros.
