Another team captain. I think of our picks only Bresee wasn't a team captain.

Y’all are so focused on the big college name players

The front office met with Howden multiple times before the draft

Wasn't that air force dt from last year a captain also?

Its almost like they will take a lesser player if he is a captain.

Your entire team doesn't have to be full of college captains.

Yep, and projected as a UDFA before the draft

Some teams are good at the draft and some aren't

Do you agree with me that Ireland can get blinders on with "his profile"

I can't remember if he was or not but there is another reminder of a player who didn't play at all for us last year cuz he got hurt early on.

Same thing with the linebacker from Appalachian State, Jackson

I don't know what the issue is, but I think the Saints have had 6 bad drafts in a row, counting this one

I think Ireland completly over hauled our scouting and drafting.
He can keep doing whatever it is he does as I think he has been great for us Keep paying the man his money.

Howden is better than those guys

Mel Kiper is a legend but there is a whole level of sub scouting going on that aligns more with how teams draft, especially when you get out of the top 50 players or so. If you are just looking at the list on Tv you are not getting the best information

From CBS

quote:

146. Saints: Jordan Howden, S, Minnesota Grade: A- Explosive safety/nickel hybrid who wraps up extremely well in space. One of the best tackling DBs in the class. Occasionally takes bad angles in run support. Sneaky good ball skills. This is a smart pick.

Flashback to draft day.

Apparently he may start for us in Maye’s absence and reports are the team is very high on him.

Not surprised. Was a special teams standout in preseason. I’m expecting him to play well.

I think he has done a very good job.

The main point I was making was about Ireland or any gm really missing out on a great prospect if he doesn't fit the model.

Seems like Ireland won't bend on his player profile. I know he wants team leaders/captains and 4 year guys.

sometimes it pays to take a chance on a more talented guy that might not be 6'6 270 but is the better player in the long run.

It was a really nice pick. Without looking g at his contract, I could see thus being maye's last year as a saint.
