From 2010-14 he averaged 77 catches, 950 yards, 10 TD. He was neck and neck with Gronkowski for best TE in the league and was cruising towards a HOF career.

Really a shame he and Sean got sideways on that franchise tag. Even worse when he eventually netted us Max Unger and Stephone Anthony(Unger was pretty good tho)

The catch he made on a off schedule pass/adjustment from Bress left Patrick Willis flat on his arse.

in that playoff game.

yeah, that one.

But a great play.

Things went sideways when Jimmy (and his agent) thought he was bigger than the game and demanded top 5 WR money … $10M/yr. He was franchise tagged at $7M/yr.

Graham is 37 yrs old as his game is definitely declining. Personally, I don’t think he makes the 53 man roster

That 2011 team was special (insert cry emoji). Hope he makes roster, but it seems unlikely.

I wonder if the Joker Saints fan is waiting lol

What’s up, my man.

Is this thread just feeling nostalgic about Jimmy—I do too—or do you think he’s got a legit chance to make the team and be an actual part of the offense.?

Personally, I find it hard to imagine him making the team unless there are injuries to 1 of Juwan, Foster, or Krull. I think they like Krull and how he’s developing and don’t want to risk him getting poached off the PS.

Pretty sure Jimmy did say it’s the Saints or nobody, so if he doesn’t make the 53 out of camp, I hope we can figure out a creative way to keep him around in car there are in-season injuries. Or, since Carr has had trouble in the red zone, maybe Jimmy can carve out a specialists role where he just gets targeted mainly around the goal line or in various 3rd and longs. He did take a year off, said he did some cycling to stay/get in better shape and protect his knees. Taking off from running has him feeling physically as good as he had in years according to him. But he’s still 36. Regardless, will be fascinating to watch play out.

I really thought he was coming here to retire but DA said in a interview that when he came in on his visit he worked out and was "in really good shape"

Worst case scenario he is good for the TE room and pushes everyone in getting better. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Barring a camp injury, I’d bet on graham making the roster

He was a product of Drew Brees being one of, if not, the most accurate passers ever. He still caught the ball, but Drew put in places only he could catch so many times. He was average at best everywhere else.

I was 100% with you until here. Unger was elite and the Saints got the better end of that trade because of it. It's definitely a bummer that it went down like that, but Drew was necessary for Jimmy to be Jimmy, as the remainder of his career has proven. I am excited he's back though and hope he makes the roster and contributes, if nothing else for the sake of nostalgia.
