I was a Winston believer, but now I want him cut.

With Peat, he can play both guard positions and LT in an emergency. I would like a restructured deal to keep him around one more year. The Trae Turner injury killed our cutting of Peat now.

But since Payton likes Peat, the Saints can trade Peat, Winston, and Lutz to the Broncos for a 3rd round pick. That would be awesome, but will never happen.

Peat restructured in March. There is no cutting him this year. They can void his deal next year but he’s still going to be a healthy dead cap hit

Duncan is a fricking idiot. Every year this dolt gets fooled by the limited reps he sees in fricking practice

They could’ve, you know, just not resign Winston like 4 months ago

It was a restructure to lower the cap to fit in Carr's contract I thought.

Dude is such a pussy

As for the QB’s, Winston wasn’t “re-signed”, he took a paycut and lessened the cap hit on his deal.

Winston is here for this season and will be gone because he is terrible as a QB. Happy feet, crumbles under pressure, etc

You clearly aren’t right very often. I’ve never seen someone on this board try to pat themselves on the back as hard for such a lukewarm take. It’s obvious people downvoting your opinions really affected you.

No, I'm right more often than not, and it's not the downvoting it's the sure-as-shite lil guys who talk down on others because they don't march in lockstep with every move the club makes. Maybe you should go back and refresh your memory on how Edwards was going to be a "big surprise" for this club according to losers on here.

I am not familiar with you, but I understand if people call someone a bad poster when they dig up old takes of theirs that were very common at the time.

Except...they weren't common. Just the opposite actually.

Winston costs pennies. Zero logic to release him. Not to mention, he’s one of the most qualified backups in the league.

Next year he has a $10mm dead cap hit

Why would you release him?

The roster spot. That could be another WR/DT/LB

Taysom and Haener would be better than Winston.

Why would the saints even chance that with Haener especially when all teams are now required to dress 3 QBs every week.

Somehow missed this. Would they let us designate Taysom as our 3rd?

Can’t believe they do stuff like this and expand the season but won’t budge from 53… needs to be 60.

Didn't hear him say that, buy what I did hear him say was;

"Winston hasn't earned a spot on the 53 man roster, but would likely not get cut because of the contract details and the Saints being kind of tied to him even though he's getting out played." Said the exact same thing about Peat.

Winston's case may be a little different because of Hill's ability to play and win at QB in the league. But by no means is Winston a lock to get cut OR be on the 53 man roster.

Personally I think the teams was hoping Winston would show up enough for some team very thin at QB to inquire about him as a possible back up.

But this simply isn’t accurate. We aren’t tied up financially with him at all.
