I agree he was drafted to defend the Kelvin Benjamin's, Mike Evans', Vincent Jacksons' of the NFL world...We literally have nothing to lose in this game(except if we win). Throw him out there and see what he can do in game time situations.

If he can't cover bulk him up and move him to Safety. We need all the Safeties we can get since they cant't seem to stay healthy.

maybe we have plans on trading him for a 3rd rounder or something this year, so not putting him out there keeps his value as risk-free as possible!

kidding.

I agree with you if we were talking about a qb or something. In a meaningless game like the one coming; this is the absolute perfect time to get the kid some live action. If he gets burnt a ton, it's just even more content to learn from.

Chill out guys. I trust them to develop this guy.

The people you are referring to as "them" have not developed one player in the last 8 years on that side of the ball. Name me one player that looked bad, and then a season or two down the road looked great. There isn't any.

If that is the case, then shame on Loomis for wasting another high draft pick.

Cameron Jordan and Junior Galette say otherwise

Now if you mean cornerback? Tracy Porter before he got injured so often. Many heads said they were the most underrated cornerback duo in the league (Porter/Greer)

By NFL standards, he's slow.

I know he's been in the league for a while now, but he's big ol' dude and he ran, according to google, a 4.46 forty when he came out.

Don't really have an opinion on the rest and can't dispute any of it for sure, but his numbers at the combine suggest that this is false

I don't remember any of those guys looking like they got developed. Cj maybe, he did improve but then he regressed..... TP looked great his rookie year, Gallette has always looked like the only thing holding him back was playing time. He was a great pass rusher butweak at other tasks from the first spot of playtime....and that's still true.

Right.

Because Galette was that good of a pass rusher in college, where he went undrafted.

CJ improved every year his first 3 years and regressed this year eating up double teams left and right. He was never drafted as a premier pass rusher either. He's excelled at his job: run stopper in a 3-4 system.

TP looked good in 2008, best in 2009, and still above average in 2010. 2011 he dealt with injuries, and ever since then its been injury after injury for him.

Galette was a solid pass rusher, but horrible run stopper. every year he's played for us, more playing time, he's improved his pass rushing and his run stopping.

Patrick Robinson did improve in 2011 from his 2010 year, went to shite like everyone in 2012, injured in 2013, and started bad in the first 2 games in 2014 only to be one of the higher rated DBs this season afterwards.

Theres a reason why from the first time gallette saw the field the first year he was here, everyone cried for him to get snaps

Do you guys really think we have a good development defensive staff?

That's different then what you asked

And there is a reason he went undrafted. His improvement is undeniable

It's a different question

So you think we made gallete into what eh was, in one training camp? I don't. Maybe his skillset and desire was suited for nfl, maybe we did make him into a beast pass rusher miracuously in no time flat. A tiny few exceptions (only 1 really) in 8 yrs doesnt change my opinion of our development capabilities.

Will Brandon Coleman play this game? I think he will be a stud! Or maybe a bust, I'm not sure.

Yeah, he got kicked out of Temple after 3 seasons for stealing laptops. Played his senior year at Stillman College. His talent isnt what kept him from getting drafted

He used the Senior Bowl to answer some questions since many wondered if Jean-Baptiste had the movement skills to stay cornerback or would he have to be moved to safety. Jean-Baptiste proved in Mobile that he does; he showed the potential to be more than a press-man cover. Jean-Baptiste illustrated the quickness and agility to play some off-man and zone coverage at the Senior Bowl.

very rarely does a few days of practice at the Senior Bowl mean anything.

hell... I remember when Sedrick Ellis dominated that week and help bolster his draft status which was already pretty high.

I wonder why Walter Football said those things because I don't remember Jean Baptiste turning that many heads that week. I'm not saying he didn't do well but Walter makes it some routine report. He doesn't give you any specific examples of SJB's week... just kind of some half arse feedback.

i've said it before and I'll say it again. Why in the hell would you use a 2nd round pick on a guy who you view as a project player?

Lunacy!!!!!!!!

I sure as hell hope he at least comes on at some point and contributes.

it was a pretty weird draft by us if you think about it.

1st round- trade up for a WR in a class when it is deep at the position.

2nd round- draft a guy you view as a "project player"

I don't know man... I hope everything works out though.
