Kurt Warner started his first game at 28yr 82 days

Taysom turns 30 in Aug & surely isn’t getting a crack to start a game for at least another year.

He’ll be 31 when next season starts

furthermore, Kurt Warner developed in two different professional football leagues before getting his chance to play in the NFL.

When the season kicks off in September, It will be almost 4 years from the last time Tayson Hill threw meaningful passes in a football game.

This is taysom’s 4th year in league. Perspective is all how you want to twist it.

The amount of time Taysom Hill has lost during his football career is detrimental no matter how you want to twist it.

Well then my perspective is that in the league two years Taysom couldn't beat out out of the league for two years Teddy

Goat, Teddy was paid to be the backup 2. Highest backup deal in the league. He was the safer choice at the time and we won. Easy if we had to go from teddy to Taysom, pretty difficult to explain going from Taysom to teddy. And let’s not diminish taysom’s growth over the year. Teddy was nowhere but the bench in the playoffs.

If Taysom ever gets his shot, his biggest fan will be #9

In the biggest game of the year, Taysom shined. And yet you think they’re going to change Taysom’s role. Can’t even help but to contradict your own narrative

What else does SP need to see from Hill after 3 seasons? If one thinks he's an offensive genius, you would also think he can identify one's ability to play QB in the NFL pretty quickly.

Here's how it plays out

-- Hill increases his snaps on offense in 2020
Plays well ---> "Taysom has really taken to that role, I think we are a better team with him doing a little of everything"

or

Taysom gets hurt ---> "Look, Taysom got banged up, lost out on precious reps" (also brings worry to ability to stay healthy, which further knocks down his QB prospects)

or

Taysom just sucks all around, and that project becomes scrapped.

SP already paid him, Hill is indebted to the team to play whatever role they need him in. There is no guarantee to him to play QB. SP drafts Tommy Stevens - hmmm, maybe Hill is done after his new extended deal. Stevens becomes his new toy. SP has done way more to suggest Hill ISNT the guy rather than cement that he is.

--------------

- Brees makes it through the year injury free (Highly likely)
Winston never gets a shot to step on the field and "prove it" like Teddy did. How does he build value in the eyes of another organization if he isnt on the field? So what's his market going into 2021? Much of the same. But he can build value within the Saints organization (he could also wreck it). This gives the Saints an inside track to lock Winston in for longer at below market value. Taysom stays in the joker role. Either leaves as a FA to pursue playing QB, or realizes he's not that guy, maybe stays here a little longer.

Payton in 18’: “our guy is in the building (Taysom)

-trades for teddy

Payton in 19’: “Taysom is the next Steve young”

-signs teddy, plays him when Drew goes down

Payton in 20’: “Taysom is our QB2”

-signs jameis, declares open competition

Are people in this thread really comparing Kurt Warner to Taysom Hill?

I hope Taysom is sitting next to Brees in the HOF one day. I would love to be wrong about this one!

"Goat, Teddy was paid to be the backup 2."

Correct

"Highest backup deal in the league."

Correct again bro.

"He was the safer choice at the time and we won."

Payton dumbed down the playbook for Teddy over those 5 games as we all saw.

So dumbing down the offence and going with out of the league two year Teddy was still a safer bet than starting multiple tool run, throw and catch Taysom.

They have nothing to hang their hat on now that Payton’s words actually match his actions

Let’s be frank, here, Chad.

Taysom doesn’t bring much to the table as a starting QB in the NFL.

From what we do know about him; he will be one dimensional. His lack of experience leaves much to be desired. Should Brees go down again this year; Jameis will get the nod.

And it’s really not even close.

So, if that again happens this year; what would make you think he starts for the Saints next year?
