Jenkins still has a ~$4M hit next year, other 2 are gone

Hill's contract is bad, but not terrible. He's an overpaid TE (around top 5), or RB (around top 10) right now, but they can easily move some of his money around. His guarantees run out after 2023.

The contract they need to focus on is Peat. Paid like a top 5 guard next year, but not consistently playing up to that.

The Saints paid Brees from 2018-2022 - $100M contracts.....and he could barely throw the ball 20 yds.

That was a bad contract. If Brees, sign a team friendly deal on his decline our cap would be much better today.

Sure we can keep kicking the can down the road with restructures and clever cap maneuvers, but when you have bad contracts it requires that.

Drew Brees deserved every penny he ever got from the Saints.

The problem is the Saints have never hit a cap reset button and keeps pushing tons of cap (not just drew or taysom) down the road. They have done it with nearly all of their bigger contracts. Did it with Jameis too past 2 years. It all is what it is.

Peat contract is looking bad as well.

I agree he deserved all the money he got until 2018. He was done. Brady is still playing and can still chuck it 40 yards with ease. We literally had to sub Brees out to throw downfield.

Brees last three years looked like Manning last year with the Broncos, at least they made the Super Bowl.

The Taysom Hill contract is not the problem. He is a weapon on offense, a damn good emergency QB, and he damn near blocked a punt to win the game (he did draw a 10 yard penalty which helped as well)

The contract that is hurting us is Andrus Peat. Dude grades out a 50/100 nine games a year and is injured the other 8.

i can't take you seriously anymore.

also, injuries are what started derailing his career the most in 2019 and 2020. he was still extremely effective in helping us win despite a decline in arm strength.

You are emotional Brees fan. I didn't say he was trash are no longer good for us. I'm saying he was not worth $25M/yr at that time.

If you remove Brady/Manning from the list, the last SUper Bowl winning QB's were all on rookie deals or team friendly contracts. The team put great talent around them.

The Rams went balls to the wall, abandoned that young QB for a vet and surrounded him with alot of last ride vets.

QB's that get the big payday rarely make it back to the SUper Bowl. They eat up way too much cap space and have to settle for average talent at other positions. See Aaron Rodgers...

I have to imagine Peat & Ruiz are notice. Ruiz may be able to survive through 2023, but cutting Peat after the season saves money. Always hate to make drastic changes on o-line (especially if there could be a new LT in 2023), but I believe a lot of Saints fans can live with some early season inconsistent Guard play in 2023 is they replace both

MT being the exception and I think if he had that to do over he wouldn’t have given him that deal knowing the injuries that were coming.

Look I thought Jarvis would get between $6M-$8M/yr contract before he signed the $3M deal with us. He's easily worth double the $3M.
But I don't see how anyone can go from $3M/yr to $15M/yr the next season at 30 years old at any position other than QB
