Since our punishment of the Saints obviously taught you nothing, Steelers, it's apparent we must punish them even harsher. Now learn your lesson!

thats a lot more direct evidence than they ever had on the Saints

Correct me if i'm wrong...but Sean only knew about the system. As far as i know he was not directly involved such as handing out envelopes.

Rooney's, no problem.

Tripping players during gameplay, no problem.

Sexual assault QB, no problem.

Saints rough game talk, death penalty.

Sean Payton's reaction to James Harrison claim that he got "envelope" from Mike Tomlin after helmet-to-helmet hit: "If people are waiting for the league to investigate that they shouldn’t hold their breath. I think what took place with us back in 2011 in so many ways was a sham."

Payton:..”The reasons behind it”
"That'll be something that's tucked away or under the rug at Park Avenue," Payton said. "They'll look into it briefly. ... Listen, don't get me started on that. I lost $6 million in salary. And honestly it was something that I'll never truly get over because I know how it was handled and how it was run and the reasons behind it. And that's just the truth."

What were the reasons behind it?

We won’t know that answer until Payton is done with the league for good.

I think he was told up front or in back channels later that this was nessesary for the league going forward and you just got caught last.

Probably because the NFL needed a W with all the CTE lawsuits and stuff coming out. So Goodell got his sacrificial lamb to “show” everyone the NFL does take player safety “seriously”.

So many non-Saints don’t even realize how little evidence there was to hand down such a severe punishment. The former NFL commissioner even threw out the player punishments but apparently our SB is “tainted”.
