2016: Coby Fleener
2015: CJ Spiller, Brandon Browner
2014: Jarius Byrd, Champ Bailey

And here we are, begging to throw more and more cap space at the big names in FA instead of trying to re-sign and find quality starters in the second wave (A.J. Klein and Manti Te'o types). The Saints have found TEN starters in the draft alone the last two years, and only three in free agency (Klein, Te'o, and Ginn).

Tell me again why we should go out and grab the flashy names?

Agree 100 percent. It never pays off when we spend big. The best teams never do in FA.

I would still like Suh. Though he has Albert Haynesworth written all over him.

If they did, the Redskins would have about 5 more Lombardi Trophies.

They’ll be the first people calling for Loomis’s head when we’re getting raped by dead money.

I trust Ireland , keep doing what we’ve recently done. Get a couple players in the second wave of FA and draft smart. We’re setting up our team for now and post Bree’s

This is why I don't like this year-long NFL news cycle crap. The majority of this board has been brainwashed into thinking that this is the most important day of the year for their NFL team for the sake of eyeballs and clicks, when most data proves that results are negligible.

To throw absurd money at big names and get us back in the salary cap Hell it took years to get out of?

Yet we signed the greatest FA of all time..

So should we just quit trying all-together?

They're trying. Just not the way you want them to try. And it worked last year. A hell of a lot better than Byrd/Spiller/Fleener/Browner.

And don't act like 2006 free agency was the "Drew Brees Sweepstakes." The Saints got him because his first choice went with a washed-up QB with no knees instead.

That was a completely different time. We had no QB on the roster 2006. We had pay up for somebody and luckily they chose wisely.

If you remember the rest of the guys we signed weren't huge names. They brought in guys like Scott Fujita, Scott Shanle, Mark Simoneau, etc. We were more successful when getting guys in the draft and signing a few select guys in free agency at a decent price. Things started going to shite when we were overpaying for big names that didn't fit and we were missing on guys in the draft

So there’s zero substance to Suh being a saint or even being looked at

I should know better

OP so true. Doesn’t matter how many big FA busts happen and experts say build through the draft.... ppl every year still say let’s spend big smh.

This. Confirmation bias of recent FA failures does not mean the next FA signing will be a bust.

It's like the ppl that look at the roulette wheel number history before placing their bets...

Free agent busts suck, but it’s crazy to me all of y’all acting like missing out on the players everyone wanted is a good thing.

...a free agent signing never works out I guess.
