Snead is consistent and has good hands, but he's already max'd out.
nah.. a player like Snead has had to work harder than most to get where he is now. I don't see him flaming out at all.
i'm pretty excited to see how much Curtis Johnson can help his game grow more.
this WR group kind of reminds me of how things use to be except MT13 is a legit WR1 while the others may just carve out their roles nicely?

Seriously?

Saints fans have been slightly overrating Snead for a couple of years now.
I've never seen anyone say that he was a great WR. Most people think that he's an above average WR that excels in the slot. He would play for any team in the NFL.

how is snead overrated?
he was a top 5 NFL WR from the slot last year and routinely grades out +++
He was 16 yards from 1k in 2015 and he missed a game.
Yep. If anything...he's underrated by the national media.

Not overrated but a critical piece to our offense and expect him to be 2 or 3.

Nah. This is the same QB that didn't look at Brandin Cooks once in a game in which the offense put up almost 50 points. Unfortunate, but not alarming. Snead is a valuable asset to the offense that doesn't have to prove himself like Coleman, Ginn, or Lewis. Brees trusts Snead, and will be relied on when the time comes.

Drew Brees has made several receivers "overrated".

That means I think Snead has already reached his maximum level. Like Lance Moore before him, he's a surehanded guy with average skills, and Brees has made him approximately a 1000 yd WR in the offense.
Neither Brandon Coleman nor Tommilee Lewis has reached their maximum potential in this offense yet. Coleman has the physical potential to become a Colston/Graham hybrid, and Lewis has the speed and quickness to become ... well, the guy we traded to New England for a 1st rd pick. If either emerges, they jump Snead.

Coleman- if this guy can become consistent, he's got all-pro physical tools.
Bless your heart

Safe in the slot. Ginn's speed dictates he is WR2 with Thomas the WR1 obviously. The next 2 are anyone's guess. Looking like Coleman survives for another season. Tonight's game could decide the last spot imo.

He's been missing practices and he wants a new contract for more than the Saints are willing to pay. I think they are plannign for life w/o Snead next season. The Saints know not to overpay at receiver because Brees makes the WR, not the other way around.
Snead grades out well, but how much of that is due to playing with Brees and not having the attention of another team. If we switched Snead out with someone like Mohammed Sanu, do we think he would do worse than Snead?

I see your point but we dumped Cooks and dumping Snead in consecutive years would be dumb if they plan on bringing Brees back. We need some continuity. That showed for a few years there, as Colston aged and we traded Graham.

Continuity and chemistry is great, but Brees works fine with new receivers. If they are okay moving Cooks going into a Brees contract year, they won't blink at letting Snead walk next summer. Paying market price for Snead who is easily replaceable doesn't happen when we also have to pay Brees & others. Unless Snead takes a discount considering the WR free agency class is stacked next year, then I see the Saints planning to move on.

You laugh, but this is true. Snead's a good player in an average body. Coleman has size; that's why we've been keeping him around. I doubt he will emerge, but IF he does, he becomes a bigtime player.
Tommilee (I just can't get over that name, the only other person I knew with that name was a little girl ) has some serious jets, and if he were just a tad bigger, he also becomes a serious threat.
It's preseason, you have to keep trying these guys out and see if they can make that next step.
Snead is Lance Moore 2.0, a guy you can count on, but can also replace pretty easily.

i love Snead and think he is clearly out 2nd best WR.
Come on Lester, you're better than this.

I don't what any of this means, because you used a lot of "if's".
But this, is false.
Snead can run every route from the slot position and from the outside. That was not Lance. Lance was a "find a hole in the zone" guy. Snead has a larger skill set.
The reason why Snead is not odd man out is because past the top 3 WRs, there is a bunch of meh. We know what Coleman is. He is tall, moderately physical, somewhat slow, inconsistent 4th or 5th wide receiver. Can't count on him, at this point. TommyLee is full of unknowns. Splash plays in the preseason are great, but line up in a real game, 2 minute drill, and catch a 3rd and 8. Get open consistently. Separate against top CB talent.

Read the thread. Odd man out to Ginn who has been taking WR2 snaps in preseason
