I know its preseason but its hard to ignore the fact that Brees hasnt looked his way at all, and he is playing into the 3rd and 4th Q in the last 2 preseason games.

I just dont see how he goes from Brees' security blanket to a guy that isnt getting looks and is playing with the backups?

when the real game starts he'll pick up where he left off, right?

No, he better than anybody behind TLL. He could be demoted to WR #3 or 4 though

why? i love Snead and think he is clearly out 2nd best WR. Brees played 2Q and didnt look his way once. Was just weird. Then he is playing with our 3rd string QB deep into games. Why?

It's a bit unfortunate for Snead, but it makes a lot of sense.

Thomas- he's become the clear #1 WR on this team.
Ginn- shows he still has the ability to make big plays. Have to involve him.
Lewis- probably the most pleasant surprise, and basically a younger version of Ginn.
Coleman- if this guy can become consistent, he's got all-pro physical tools.

Snead is consistent and has good hands, but he's already max'd out. All of the above have higher ceilings.

You're insane if you think anyone other than Thomas is a preferred Breed target over Snead.

This seems more like a breauxmosexual thread than a LE thread.

Surprised you started this thread. Brees has played very little this preseason to make any assumptions.

To play devil's advocate, this is his contract year.

I'm not saying he's gonna get cut. Just saying the reports of Ginn being our 2nd WR may be true and I didn't see that coming. Thought Snead would flirt with 1k again this year & 8-9 TDs

I don't understand all the hype on Ginn. He's not going to all of a sudden start catching the ball. He will be used to stretch the field but I don't see him in too many red zone packages. I'd much prefer Snead.

I think snead is fine but it also wouldnt surprise me if they trade him like they did with stills.

Drew Brees played 26 snaps last night & Willie Snead was only on the field for 13 of them. Other WRs count: MThomas 26, Ginn 18, BColeman 9.

Similar usage to Week 1 preseason (Ginn sat out Week 2). In that game, Snead was in on zero 2-WR sets and got just 6-of-12 first-team reps.

I think he's been playing into the 3rd quarter (along with Fleener) because you only have so many receivers and it's easier to evaluate quarterbacks if you give them some reliable targets.

Snead reminds me of Danny Abramowicz. Abramowicz was probably the slowest wide receiver in the NFL running the 40
in just under 5.0 sec. yet he was the first NFL player to catch a pass in 100 consecutive games, he was an all-pro,
sure handed, he was precise with his routes and tough as hell. These are qualities that Snead brings to the table despite his lack of speed and size, he is an overachiever and gets the job done. I think Payton will find a roll for him.
