Outside of the Jags and Titans, It seems as if every other team in the League has at least one guy who can make a big play at some point in the game. I am sorry guys but It has been too many years now w/o that type of player on our team. Where's the ghost of Sharper when you need him?

not only one impact player but you'd like one impact player at every level IMO. Front 4, LB's, and someone in the secondary that is able to be the impact player whether their success being a direct result from production of the rest or not.

All of our scouts must be off minded cause we sure find our share of impact players on that side of the ball.
Reminds me of the steelers...just bass akwards.

Exactly.

It is a shame b/c we have some solid guys but not one guy is spectacular. We have never recovered from Sedrick Ellis never panning out.

Pondered this very question last week.
Defense looks slow, tentative, and out of position. We don't seem to have any DLs who can beat an OL outright, a linebacker who stuffs the run regularly, or a DB who actually can cover one on one.

Roman Harper definitely has a huge impact in games

quote:I think Jenkins is solid. Seems to be the best tackler in the secondary, maybe best on the team. Plus, he doesn't get any help from the mediocre corners (except maybe Greer) and olbs on his side of the field.
I think "solid" might even be a stretch.

quote:"Suck" is relative. About 30 teams would love our offensive struggles, while still putting up 30 points

like I said earlier. There is a big difference in a team putting up 30 with at least 7 of that coming when the other team is up by two scores in the 4th quarter and a team putting up 30ish earlier in the game. We had 13 freaking points going into the 4th quarter yesterday. WAY too many 3 and outs. Offensive numbers have been skewed a bit.

I agree. Im not arguing that they're rolling on offense. Just saying I think a lot of our hits in the draft and FA are on offense because of Brees.
During that game, Martz said Payton might be the best playcaller of all time. Its showing.
We're really predictable right now. Ingram in the game = run up the gut. Sproles, zero carries so far so teams dont have to play the run with him in. Almost no passes from under center, they're all coming from shotgun, and we're not offsetting that by running any draws or anything to keep defenses honest. Etc...

This is so true.
As for the D-Unit...

They did run the ball better yesterday, but aside from Ingram's first quarter burst it was all PT.
