His strength is run blocking.
Is that best suited for RG or LG … as they are initially trying him at LG

Quicker Defensive Tackles (DL) could get leverage under his pads which is an issue as some call him slow.

Would Penning be subject to quicker DL at LG or RG ??

Penning is athletic but he’s not quick. That got him exposed on the end against speed rushers. Playing inside he can be that mauler he’s shown he can be in the run game and have help in the passing game. He can also use that athleticism to pull and look for defenders to level.

IF he can work in tight space blue may excel moving to the inside. I trust this staff to utilize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses much more so than the last staff.

This. I find that he’s a little slow and I worry about him up against quicker technician DTs.

I may be in the minority but I don’t consider him to be a bust. There really hasn’t been much stability in his first few years in the league as far as coaching and position goes. I think his future is at right guard with someone to protect him on the outside

So if you had a do over on the draft 3 years ago you’d pick him again at 19?

Saying I don’t see him as a bust has nothing to do with a draft do over you f’ing retard. Can’t wait until you are banned

Didn’t think you’d answer and I like the way you call for censorship because I don’t agree with you sucking Penning’s knob.

The Saints already told us he’s a bust by not picking up the 5th year option. If by some miracle this guard experiment works, we won’t have the cap to keep him.

If guard is where he goes. That means the step up in tackle play from the other two are massive.

All accounts, id say fuaga was a 6/10 LT, penning was a 5/10 RT last year. Now if we go into this year and banks is a 7/10 LT, fuaga is a 8/10 RT, and penning is a 5/10 LG than we're better off. Optimizing the line is part of the job.

I'm actually more worried about ruiz if I'm being honest.

That’s a fair assessment. We need the O line to be our strongest group if we are going to roll with this set of skill players

Arguably the worst pass blocking RT in tbe league. Prob more like 3/10. If Fuaga/Banks at tackle aren’t a massive upgrade we are in trouble

Penning has one spot and one shot left. Left guard.

it's so hard to really to know where guys like Fuaga and Penning stand. The play calling was so arse, and the offense kept losing guys almost every week.

Skill positions guys mainly but even when Carr went out.. just forget about it.

The interior O-line was constantly shuffled.

Fuaga did a helluva of a job on Myles Garrett though for a rookie.

The offense couldn't really drive the ball down the field at all. The defense couldn't stop the run the on the other side. Rizzi won more games than DA.

Even after DA was fired. There were weeks where the coaching wasn't bad others where it was God awful.

That defensive game plan vs. the Raiders was disgusting. There were no adjustments the whole game. The Washington game they got after JD5 and sacked the hell out of him.

The Green Bay game was arse.

That last game against Tampa was one the Bucs needed but didn't get the lead until the 4th quarter at home.

I think it’s a masterclass by the new coaching staff if we keep him at guard and he does well. Now he gets guard money instead of tackle money in the future. I’m pulling hard he rolls at guard.

This isn't necessarily correct. He had elite quickness and speed for his size. Balance and coordination are the issue IMO.

If he can learn to bend at the knees and understand how quick DT's want to attack him presnap in pass sets, I think he can make a Peat level career at OG.

His feet and his cranium are terrible so far. Maybe they catch up to the rest.

I think Fuaga was at least 7/10 at LT.

Another year and a swap to his more natural RT spot could put him at 9/10.

I could see Banks be 8/10, Penning 7/10, McCoy 10/10, Ruiz 7/10, Fuaga 9/10.

That’s a damn good line. Throw in an offensive “guru” HC and we could see a relatively potent offense.

I’m not expecting a ton of wins, but I’m EASILY taking the over on 5.5 wins.
