Only issue with the 2000 D-line was the propensity to play “who let the dogs out” after a sack. Besides that the “hand shake” was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in the world of sports celebration

The Saints have defensive lineman from FAU, UTSA, and U of Manitoba making significant contributions. Also Cal.

The blossoming of T Rex is unreal. Tied for the lead in sacks with 9.5, this while sharing time with Davenport.

if you ever listen to him give an interview, he's super impressive, he'll be a HC one day

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a poster on here claim loomis scouts talent or refuse to give Ireland credit for our drafting success.

And Hendrickson went later iirc because he came from a smaller school and was seen as a pass rush specialist/project, and Onyemata because he played in Canada and not many people went to go scout him (seemingly only us and Green Bay really saw him).

So all of these guys are really talented.

But that's not to knock Nielsen. He's getting them to play up to their full potential. Bill Johnson seemed to only get average to above average ability out of similarly talented guys, and they were a lot more inconsistent.

Not knocking him because he is getting there and finishing, but he did have basically full time starts in the first 4, and Davenport has GREATLY raised the total pressures per game we've been getting since coming back.

So that timeshare (which they also often play together with Davenport sliding inside, especially since Rankins went down) is only helping.

But again the key thing is this year he is finishing the plays, which he lacked his first few years (along with very extended snaps though he still had a good bit).

Our DL is balling and yet Rankins is out... can’t wait to see him in the rotation too

Much like Nielsen has had people prepared to step up/produce while Rankins is out or when Davenport has missed time, I got a feeling the DL will still be ok if/when Hendrickson bolts to somewhere else for that theoretical 5yr/$80M contract.

He’s been able to push DO to elite levels, that’s for sure

Maybe LSU should hire this guy just saying.

Nielsen's already been an understudy to Coach O, has an exceptional resume' of maximizing the potential of players at both the college & NFL level, and would fill an obvious need.

The only negative is his sole experience as a positional coach, and not as a play-caller. But that's also been the case for practically every elevated positional coach to coordinator.

I'd love it, as an LSU fan, and hate it as a Saints fan.
