Not going to happen. Saints are going all in for this season. Will draft a player that can make a huge contribution this season.

The Kamara trade prevents this from happening. Rudolph is a slight possibility. I think the melt would be huge. Lol

Link? Because absolutely zero of our offseason moves have shown that we’re mortgaging the future for the present.

Make a poorly photoshopped picture of Baker in a Saints jersey?

That can probably be done today if they didn't have anything going on

Draft Insider Tony Pauline passes along word that some believe Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield being drafted by the Jets is a "done deal."

Pauline has been on this path for a long time, and we believe it. The Jets traded up for the No. 3 pick early in the process. Perhaps they have a clear target in mind, and it would make sense if it is Mayfield as he fits the Jets' offense extremely well. We expect this to be a consensus opinion by the time the draft rolls around.

I believe a Jets beat writer has also been saying the same thing for weeks too. I think you're gonna be very disappointed.

At least 2, and perhaps the first 4 picks of the draft will be QB's. The Saints just don't have the capital to move up that far unless they are willing to trade basically this entire draft and early round picks next year. I think Payton really wants Mayfield, but the cost to get him is MUCH too high.

The only chance the Saints would have is if he falls out of the top 5 (possible, but not likely). Even then, Miami, Buffalo and Arizona would all probably have more to offer in a trade than the Saints.

So picking a player at 27 is going all in?

If it was only that easy. 27th drafted player has a better chance of being a bust than making a huge contribution this yr

I learned a long time ago to not fall in love with any prospect from the draft. 1) No guarantee they will be the pick even when everyone thinks they will be and 2) No guarantee they will be any good.

Hell, in the NBA you can’t even like your pick after they are picked because they may be traded away in a few minutes.

Baker Mayfield's personality and the New York media would be fun to watch. Still think they pick Josh Rosen though. Either of them would fit in well.

Only thing is will it matter because the Jets are a joke franchise. Couldn't win anything with Parcells there. Wasted some good years with Rex Ryan's defenses by not being able to find any QB better than frickin Mark Sanchez.

I don't. I really hope the melt, over something that was a long shot to begin with, is at least entertaining.

I hope every single team ahead of us takes a QB so Payton isn't tempted.

Just imagine if we had WASTED a pick on Mahomes last year instead of the freaking defensive rookie of the year
