Man, very sorry to hear of your loss. She sounds like an awesome fan, and we can certainly use as many of those as we can get.

No matter what I type here - I know I won't be able to wholly honor the person you still, obviously, hold so dear. So I will instead let you know what a strong sense of her spirit I feel emanating through your words. But it's more than that. How can I put this... Surely you realize many here know what it is to view most all aspects of life, including love, through a "football lens"... so what you have shared is, to me, transcendent.

Damn Blues, very sorry to see this. As much nonsense and horseshite that gets thrown around on here it’s always a gut check when something like this happens and we realize that there is someone behind the screen with a life and loved ones. You have steadily been a poster with knowledge and a great sense of what the Saints mean to you and your life. It’s obvious from your posts that she had a lot to do with that and a lot to do with the man that you are today. I give you my most sincere condolences.

Sorry for your loss, Blues. I don't know you personally, but I know enough about you to know you are a good man... and better for knowing her and sharing your life with her. She was beautiful. My condolences.

Sincere condolences blues. Losing the love of your life is a pain I can't imagine.

I opened this thread thinking it was going to be something totally different. Man, Im so sorry to hear that Blues. As long as I've been on this site you've been a staple on the Saints Board.
I can't imagine how tough it must be for you, but I can offer some advice to help you cope.
I lost my grandfather on Easter 2017. He battled colon cancer for almost 5 years. First got it in 2009, then went away, came back, etc. He was basically my father and practically help raise me. We did everything together. The thing we loved the most were the Saints. He took me to my first Saints games as a kid, even took me and some of my friends to training camp when I was still in HS & braved that Millsaps heat. But, my favorite memory is being at the NFCCG with him watching us finally get to the Super Bowl. There will never be another memory for me now that will top that.
The one thing I was dreading the most last year after he passed was football season. Every game we'd talk on the phone before, at half, and after. As it got closer to August, I wasn't ready for it to start bc I just knew I was missing one of my favorite things about the season. What made it worse was when we got off to an 0-2 start. I just knew that it was going to be so tough to sit through another year and to make it worse, he wasn't going to be there to talk about it..
Then we went on that run. I had the opportunity to go to almost every home game last year due to one of my friends' parents having season tickets. Every week I would drive down to NO from BR to meet up with my friend. The drive down consisted of me just kind of thinking about all of the awesome times that we had talking about the Saints, etc. After we lost to NE I was on my way home and said to myself that I didn't care what happened the rest of the year, I was going to enjoy just being at the Dome or watching the games bc that was basically a getaway for me and I could forget about all of the sad times.
Before he died last year, he told me that he wanted to see the Saints make the playoffs at least one more time. I know it's super corny to say, but I 100% believe that he was looking down watching the games last season and was a part of it with me. I went to the Christmas Eve game bc I wanted to be there when we clinched a playoff spot. As the clock winded down I just silently sat down in my seat and cried. I know he was there too. I went to the playoff game and felt the same way. It was so unfortunate the way the season ended, bc I did have a feeling that something really special was going to happen. I just know that it was one of the most enjoyable seasons I have ever experienced bc the Saints were able to fill that void I had missed.
I hope you don't take this post as a "look at me" post, bc that isn't what I intended, but I just felt the need to share. It really is something how a thing like football or something else can be something that can get you through tough times like this. When training camp rolls around, just think about all of the awesome times that y'all had together watching the Saints and enjoy the games this season bc she's definitely watching them too.
And I do believe that you'll get your chance to experience some playoff wins this year.

My condolences for your loss Blues. I just recently became a new father back in December and I don't know what I would do without my wife and best friend, who is also a big time football loving Who Dat. Makes me take account of what really matters in life.

I doubt anyone is going to take it that way. I think you were just trying to share your experience for Blues for camaraderie. I lost my mother when I was 15 (many year ago at this point) and stories like this seemed to help me back then, so hopefully your story helps Blues.
Thanks for sharing. Sorry for your loss.

As a long time poster, you have definitely been one of my favorites to read about especially inside scoop and training camps. I lost my mom a month ago Wednesday and the hurt hasn't begun to subside. Your wife if your other half and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and family. I hope you continue to contribute to this website during this most difficult time even just to take your mind off the hurt that remains. God Bless and take care.

I'm just seeing this and I am so sorry. She was a beautiful lady and and sounds like an even more beautiful soul. I am glad she was able to leave you with so many happy memories and I know she'll be with you on Sundays (and Monday and Thursday) when the Saints play.

don't mean to bump it again but I must express appreciation for the continued kind words. I've dealt with the death of my parents and two brothers. This is next level shite in comparison. Just a heads up warning to those headed towards the retirement years.
Now let's get our whodat on for a great season.
