re: Immediate Future Draft Picks

There was just no reason to move into the first last year when it's obvious you're in need of a Franchise QB. Last year was a trash year for QBs so who in their right mind would trade a future pick to get back into a shite draft?

It all sucks don't get me wrong. If Olave and Penning both turn out to be great players in the future for the next 10 plus years than it was worth it. We need to hope BOTH pan out. We'll probably trade our two 5ths, a 2024 pick and move up high into the 2nd round.

We gave them a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th for their 1st. That's 2 picks from being an entire draft.

Again, I agree with you. We gave up a lot for Olave. The immediate return has been good but now injuries are a problem. Still, he wasn't worth that haul. My main issue with this discussion is saying we gave up our future, when you really look at it, we gave up a couple early round picks that you hope are slotted for later in the rounds.

It pails in comparison with the Ricky Williams 1999 trade. And to be clear, each trade is independent of one another, so trying to lump in the return trade to Miami has no standing since we traded him cause he wanted out of New Orleans and we drafted Deuce in 2002.

I'm comparing one trade that is immediately considered to be used as an all-in push with one that arguably was also an all-in push (and a very dumb one at that). It was a horrible trade that had ramifications for two full years, despite a division crown and playoff win in 2000. Yes, every pick probably wasn't going to be on the roster in 1999, but having no other rookies on cheap deals hurt us for two years since we couldn't build a core of players, and we didn't really recover until arguably Payton came to town in terms of cap space and roster management.

Yes, you botched the picks from the 2003 Ricky deal by using one to trade for Sullivan. And you gave up a lot for Olave, but neither of those trades have the lasting effects the 1999 trade did, and I stand by that argument.

Did they really think they had their guy? If so, why go so hard after Watson and Wilson while no one even tried to sign Jameis? Why did they sign Jameis basically to a prove it deal if he they thought that? Loomis should have known there was a likelihood that he could be looking for a QB again very soon and as a result, not overpaid to get a mid 1st rounder in a below average draft.

Why do people keep saying this shite?
There are 4 teams with worse records but there are 7 teams with the same record. Based on what ESPN says considering all the tie breakers our pick is 11. Still sucks that Philly would get it but it’s not top 5.
