I come to the Saints Talk board admitting that I am not extremely knowledgable on this years' draft, and despite admitting that I'm sure I will catch some hell.

But a while back, it looked like without making a trade we would get a pretty solid CB or WR, heck even ODB was an option and now he's going in the Top 15.

I don't think the Saints can afford to lose picks to trade up, and I'm not excited about the guys projected to be available for us at 27.

I look forward to the geniuses on ST to either rip me a new one or alleviate my concerns.

No matter what happens, we're guaranteed to at least grab the 27th best player of the draft.

I guarantee you half of those top 15 guys don't start next year and in 5 years no one will remember 14/15 of them.

First of all, fans overrate the shite out of the draft.

Most of these guys are going to be busts. The next largest percentage won't have an immediate impact. A few guys will contribute immediately.

2nd, the Saints certainly CAN afford to give up draft picks to move around. FANS are obsessed with getting more picks because they are like shiny new toys. The truth is the Saints don't have that many holes. If they can get 2-3 of the better players in the draft, it is a success.

well considering we would get that value + for trading back I say you are the one that is wrong here.

other option is we pick 27 or move up.

I like where your head's at, but on the contrary the Saints are so good at getting value in the mid/late rounds that I'd be okay with more picks. I do think we need an impact CB or WR,though, and the former probably could be found at #27 in R1...the latter can be had in R2. WR's are deep this year.

I think we should trade our 1st for 7 5ths.

First of all, it's OBJ. ODB is a dead rapper.

You should be excited this year. There are a ton of guys to pick from at 27. This is like the year that Cam Jordan fell to us. We have a chance at Cooks, Verrett, Mosley, Matthews, Lee, Ford, Seferian-Jenkins, Fuller, Roby, Shazier, etc.

And while you may not like some of those guys, they are just as proven and have as much potential as they guys who are choosen in the first half of the draft.

I know what you meant I was just kidding.

The Saints do well in the middle rounds for sure. I just don't know if we have the roster room.

It will be interesting for sure to see what they do. I'm not advocating one way or the other, I'm just saying that there is something to be said for the Saints going for 2-3 immediate impact guys.

After watching Draft Academy, I would absolutely love for us to take Marquise Lee in the 1st and Pierre Desir (CB) in the 2nd. They both seem like high-character guys who we could really use.

If they can get a Vaccaro-like impact with their first round pick, I'll be extremely happy. It's hard to project that for 2-3 guys. Other than Vaccaro, who stood out from last year's draft (that's an honest question because I'm drawing a blank)?
