I saw more mocks with zero WRs and QBs in the top ten than mocks with one of either.

To have 5 of those go, and 2 HBs was insane and a blessing.

And the Mahomes love was 100% legit. They personally worked him out iirc, and Payton did the same with Kamara.

Brees told Payton he's only going to play for about 3 more years. We are DEFINITELY trying to find the next guy, and they believed Mahomes, with 2-3 years behind Brees, was going to be really great.

You don't pass up Lattimore to take one of those at 11

Ok. And? Lattimore was ranked WAY higher than Barnett. He and Allen were closer but Allen is a 3Tech.

Thats why I pointed out that morris claiborne had no health issues in college, but has spent his whole nfl career injured. We are all considering his injury history, but acknowledge that his level of talent is far superior to most top corners. Thats why Lattimore supporters are excited. He is a freak athlete. FREAK. Whether there are inuury questions or not, you cannot predict what will happen. Claiborne was never hurt in college. And he has never been healthy in the pros. He has actually been good when healthy though.

Also claiborne was not nearly as talented as Lattimore, was only 5'11 188, with a 4.50, 34 inch vert, 9'10 broad jump. Morris went no. 6 in the draft

In comparison Lattimore blazed a 4.36, with a 38 inch vert, and an utterly freakish 11 foot broad jump.

For Lattimore to drop to 11 was pure luck. Combo of teams reaching for QB and WR, and Fournette and Mcaffrey being bad asses, following drafts which provided a resurgence for the value of running backs. Gurley, Zeke and Melvin Gordon helped this happen

There are 2 positions in which the 40 is by FARRRRRR more important for than any other: WR and CB. These are the only ones that consistently run 10+ yards (often a lot more) nearly every play.

If you get a sub 4.4 CB with good size and can ball you take him EVERYTIME.

Right on brother. No doubt about it.

Not too many have the skill/size/speed that Lattimore has.

There are so many that dont have all 3. I cant really think of too many outside of Pat Pete.

Antonio Cromartie and Gilmore are the closest, but they srent quite as fast, although 4.38 is crazy fast. But Gilmore had more of an average vert and broad jump (36 and 10'3) and ran 4.40 at the combine.

Cromatrie had the hops, but actually ran 4.44 at combine. Same with jalen ramsey - crazy hops like Lattimore, but not quite as fast at 4.41

This might have been overlooked but it's a good point. There aren't many and most of them didn't even make the playoffs.

One thing this thread has taught me, and I'll throw another one out in a second, is that unless you have a good secondary the pass rush is wasted.

The other stat is the Saints from 2006 to last year usually have between 30-38 sacks. Two years were outliers (2008 with 28 and 2013 with 49(?)). Sack total, being largely the same, seemed to not have an extreme overall effect on our wins or losses. I think we had 35 the SB year.

Combined with everything else, in today's game you need a very good QB and a very good secondary to stop very good QBs. Pass rush (more particularly sacks; I'd be interested to see overall pressures year to year) is a factor bit clearly to a much lesser degree than what has been taught to us.

Vernon Hargreaves went no.11. He was smaller with short arms and ran a 4.50.

Lattimore might be the best player in the whole draft, but if he's going to be hurt half the time it doesn't matter.

The Saints DBs have been hurt constantly for the past few years. Getting another fragile CB doesn't encourage me at all. Again, he might be great. But, if he can't see the field, what difference does it make?

That is the fear and the reason for the discouragement.

Ok well just ask Dallas about Claiborne. Never was hurt before the nfl.

What you are saying literally applies to every prospect. Not just Lattimore

Was healthy all last year after they figured out how to monitor the problem.

So....

I'm worried he gets bit by the injury bug early and often.

I dont get it either considering most fans on here had him in their top 5 or 6 players in the draft.

Stack Your Saints Big Board

Now that we landed him, people try to pick apart the pick. Some people will just always find things to bitch about.
