If your the Saints would you bring in a G/C veteran that could challenge Ruiz for time

A guy like Zeitler or Pocic, Pocic would be better at Guard than Ruiz and play C if McCoy gets hurt. Glasgow has played all 3 interior spots. Idk about you'll but I've fricking had it with him sabotaging the offense and being a human turnstile at RG
Edit: im of course assuming thats if they don't believe Wright is ready to compete this year
Ruiz was graded 88TH! among guards in '25, we can't let him play again

If Wright looks good enough at rookie camp, let him compete w/ Ruiz. If he doesn't show enough, sure take a flyer on a one year stopgap.

We are riding out Ruiz on field this yr until Wright beats him out

Pending a trade, that's probably the plan. We did not restructure Ruiz and can save $9.5mil in a trade. If a team really wants him at a good value and we can sign Bitonio/ Zeitler for less then you trade him, save a few mil, and pick up an extra pick.

If we could do that it'd be amazing, trade him for a 7th as a back up Center, I do not want to see that guy playing this year fricking up our offense, he's the only weak link left. It does not matter how good the other 4 guys are if he's a turnstile again. Maybe someone will want to give him a chance at C

I think the team is higher on Ruiz than fans are..
Historically he wasn't so pathetic when he had McCoy and other competent players around him

We traded Trevor Penning for a 6th... Breaks my brain how some people try to evaluate trade value for players. We aren't answering the phone unless its for a 4th or 5th. He can start at OG/ C and has still produced beyond last year.
McCoy hasn't played a full season in 3 years and only 7 games each of the last 2 seasons. The Saints would rather give a team a 7th to have Ruiz on the roster than trade him for a 7th. Maybe if they gave us a 7th every year for the next 5-10 years.

FWIW this subject has been beat to death here
I would put forth that the best chance to improve the RG position would be on Big Cut Day. You can only have so many in competition.

This is why the Edwards signing was so crucial.
Last year both guards were the OL weak spots. This year Ruiz either needs to step up or this will be his last year.
If the Saints do in fact improve to 9-8 or 10-7 then their draft pick will fall in line with where the best or second best OG usually goes. But I still think there are other spots on the team in need of replacing more than Ruiz. Saints are one secondary and one playmaker short as well.

If I was the Saints I'd have cut Ruiz last year. We have to pay him no matter what but he would no longer be getting a GameDay check. He's not serviceable at any position as far as I'm concerned. Get that bum off the team ASAP. An undrafted rookie can give us the same results. He provides zero value to this team.

Because the guy was ranked the 88th GODDAMN GUARD IN THE LEAGUE! fricking idiot.

Exactly, 88th ranked G in the league. How hard is that to understand

I was shocked they didn't re-sign fortner for the 2.75 he got from the panthers.
I think the draft pick Wright, might take a little while. He really isn't dominant at pass or run blocking.
I would've signed tevin Jenkins as a free agent.

I would bring in ANYONE to challenge him for time

We drafted wright for that. We aren’t bringing in a vet

Imagine being an emotionally charged person who doesnt have the brain capacity to evaluate past 1 season.
Fun fact: Ruiz was the 30th ranked Guard in 2024
Ironically, you think based on emotions like actual idiots tend to do.

Ruiz best year was the year he was average.

It's funny that you say that like your the fricking GM. You don't know shite. What I do know is that if Wright can't immediately take the job they will be sorry they didn't bring in anyone. I'll say once more for the idiots in the back. He was the 88th ranked guard last year, Wright probably isn't ready yet. We need a vet and pretty much ANY vet would be an upgrade. I bet we do bring in someone to compete w him, Moore ain't the type to be cool w the 88th best G
