If the Saints strike out on Derek Carr, what’s plan B?

1) Go after Jimmy G
2) Trade up in round 1 if one of the top 4 guys falls (Bryce, Levis, AR15, Stroud).
3) Draft Hendon Hooker
I’m actually going to go with 2. Last offseason showed that the Saints intend to be aggressive at pursuing their next QB. I think one of those top 4 will fall outside of the top 10. I don’t see us pursuing JG because he’s not much of an upgrade over Dalton.
I’m good with us drafting Hooker, but I think we’ll be more aggressive than that. What do y’all think our backup plan at QB will be?

If we go sign Jimmy i hope we re-sign Dalton. We may as well sign 2 QBs because he will miss alot of time.
Unfortunately, we'll probably sign Baker.
None of those are particularly great options.

Allen knows he needs to win now. They will go all out to get a veteran QB.
Option 1: All in on Carr
Option 2: Jimmy G (according to the NOLA article today)
Option 3:
My guess is they go after somebody like Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz, Teddy B., Jacoby Brissett or resign Andy Dalton.
I doubt they move up for a QB and Hooker won’t be ready.

To lose a whole lot and fire Dennis Allen

Sign Dalton. Draft Stetson Bennett. Spend the money saved shoring up other positions this year. The following year if you don’t think Bennett can play in the league, see what’s available at QB in free agency/draft at that time.

We’re fricked is the only real answer

Trade up for Bryce? You are an idiot. Kid is an avg qb at best.

Which is why I think the Saints are going to be screwed long term. Instead of drafting a QB and develop him, Allen is going to go all in on a vet and send us deeper into cap hell.

Perhaps give Jacoby Brissett a call. He’s a classy, underrated QB that is probably also better than Carr at the moment.
Or sign Ian Book, let him start 17 games. Trade Kamara. Trade Cam Jordan. Trade Demario Davis. Trade Marshon Lattimore. Etc. Go 0-17. Get the number 1 pick in next year’s draft.

And Bryce Young is the one you are concerned about?

Sign the cheapest option possible.

Saints will likely go down the list of mediocre veterans. Jimmy, Baker, back to Dalton.
No matter what, they aren’t going to roll with a rookie. Just no way. Barring catastrophic injury we won’t end up with a top 7 pick next year imo. They’re gonna try too hard to win.
That’s why Carr is the best choice. Because they’re gonna keep going hard anyway. They’ll never commit to a rebuild. If they’re gonna do that, might as well get the best we can get.

Taysom QB1
This is the only correct answer. Design the offense around his skillset and let the man win you some games. Then you draft a late first round-second round guy to develop over the next couple of years. The Saints could win their division and possibly go two rounds in the playoffs with Hill at QB.
