You might be right but I’m always going to pull for the Saints to control their own destiny to the highest possible outcome. It may not work out but that’s how it stands for at least another week.

A bears loss wouldnt have clinched a bye with 3 games left and we woulda still been 1 back of the rams for the 1 so we are playing starters all 3 games regardless bc week 17 the rams play at 330 and we play at noon so all 3 wins woulda been a must and hope for a 49ers upset

I'm very happy the Bears beat the Rams.

I'm rather confident the Saints can maintain their separation from the Bears with three to go. I'm confident the Saints will get a first-round bye. I want home field advantage.

The Saints are getting the bye week. Stop being wimps.

The Saints are in an enviable position. Every team in the NFL would trade places with the Saints in a heartbeat.

The Saints do not have to rely on anyone else losing in order to secure their best seeding for a playoff run. A bye and home field are both theirs to take.

I'm not sure why Saints fans would want it any other way.

The bears beating the rams isn’t a bad thing. One seed is great.

The vigor with which it was rooted for was a bit short sighted though I agree. Very few people even considered the pros of having the rams win.

We lose Monday night and the bears beat GB and people will be rethinking that one track thinking. But we can cross that bridge when we come to it. For now it’s fine

This is a bit shortsighted.

The reason why it was so important for the Bears to beat the Rams is because the Rams have a very easy schedule the rest of the way and this game was likely the only potential loss left on their schedule. It opened up the door for the Saints to control their own destiny to the 1 seed.

Concerning the Bears schedule they have at least 2 remaining games that could very well result in losses. Those losses may or may not take place but you only have to concern yourself with those outcomes IF the Saints slip up twice in these last three games.

The Saints now in control of their playoff seeding which huge this late in the season. Just win the last 3 and it doesn't matter what the Rams or Bears do.

Another reason the #1 seed is a huge deal is that we wouldn't have to beat the Bears AND Rams in the playoffs. Obviously you have to beat whoever you play to win a Super Bowl, but mathematically, playing lesser teams along the way helps your chances.
