Cleveland will propbably draft him and he will probably become Mingo the 2nd
The only 2 things these players had in common was playing DE at LSU. Mingo was a great kid that was set up to fail in that shite hole.

Key is a definite take. He has elite pass rushing skills. This year was one of personal and physical problems, but he has all pro probabilities.

Gregory not only dropped because he failed numerous drug tests but he was also a 235lb edge rusher.

Even at that weight he was a decent athlete but nothing earth shattering. His workout & skinny body wasn’t good enough to force teams hands.

Absolutely. When he's right the natural pass-rushing ability is there. Jordan is a monster DE. It would be nice to pair him with a guy who can absolutely get to the QB.

This past season at LSU wouldn't bother me at all. A 20 year old kid looking at millions and the ONLY thing he has to do is stay healthy? I understand why he would check out. The risk of his last season at LSU far outweighed the reward. I understand why fans don't like that mindset, but blame the system that incentive players to check out more than the player.

In every significant game he played at LSU he played hard. Turn on the Bama tape where he almost single-handedly made them adjust their offensive approach. The couldn't block him one on one.

Would I trade up significantly to get him? No. But you run to the podium at 27. You simply cannot have too many pass-rushers in the NFL. Clowney has virtually the same questions/concerns coming out of college. I doubt Houston regrets that pick with him going to his second straight pro-bowl

No shite, but I want the guy still. We need a LB that can effectively run sideline to sideline, I'll take whatever I can get at 27 but they need to be a true LB. Couple that with a decent SS/CB pick up in FA or with the next pick and the defense is looking pretty good with the resign of Okafor.

Arden Key is clearly a headcase and most likely will bust in the NFL after a few years. Did you see how out of shape the guy was when he finally made it onto the field for the tigers this year?

That's what I'm saying. That dude is too good to not be a take @27. If he's such a risk, they can do what Arizona did with Tyrann. Give him an incentive based contract and have your all-pro DE be his mentor. You combine Key's speed off the edge and Cam's power, that combination will dominate opposing lines.

Everyone on this board is certifiably insane if they wouldn't take Key at 27.

He needs to have one of the best combines ever to be taken in the 1st round by anyone.

If Marcus Davenport is still on the board I'll take him before key all day, I wouldn't be mad with the key pick tho

Hmmm........

quote:

What did NFL scouts think of Gregory? Bob McGinn of jsonline.com did a thorough analysis of Gregory last week.

Some highlights of what the scouts said:

- "I'd say Von Miller's better than him now," said an NFC personnel director. "Gregory's got more talent than Clay Matthews but isn't as good because of the way Clay plays. Not as big as Ziggy Ansah or (Jason) Pierre-Paul, but he's better."

- 20 scouts (one declined the request) were asked to identify which player among the top defensive linemen and rush linebackers would have the best chance to bust. Gregory was the runaway choice, drawing 11½ votes to 2½ for Shane Ray.

- Seven scouts voted for Gregory both as the No. 1 pass rusher and as the No. 1 most-likely player to bust.

- "He's got no chance (to succeed)," an NFL personnel director said. "That (combine drug test) is just the tip of the iceberg.
This guy is not a bad guy. He just has problems. I think he will (slide) if anybody's done any kind of homework on him."

- "We had him in," another executive said. "This kid is a great kid talking to. He's very articulate. Two-parent home. He's just got some issues, has a hard time dealing with stress. He's probably off a lot of boards. I wouldn't take him."

By the way, in the same draft, Vic Beasley also had questions surrounding his weight. Just like Gregory, both bulked up prior to the combine & teams were impressed with Beasley's ability to maintain his athleticism despite the added pounds. The biggest difference between the two was that Beasley wasn't a head case. That was the deciding factor in Beasley going #8 overall & Gregory sliding to the 2nd round. (#60 overall)

Vic Beasley

quote:

Teams privately gushed about his ability to carry speed at the combine to go along with his additional weight.

LINK

Randy Gregory

quote:

The 6-foot-4½ Gregory, who starred the past two seasons at Nebraska as a defensive end, weighed 238 pounds Thursday -- up 3 pounds from the NFL scouting combine last month.

quote:

Gregory's weight has long been a concern. He dipped below 220 pounds at times while at Nebraska and bulked up to 235 in Indianapolis at the combine.

LINK

Keep on trying though Lester. Just a year ago Key was being talked about being the #1 overall pick in this draft yet now he is being pegged as 2nd rounder. Scouts have already done their homework & the word is out about Key's off the field transgressions.

quote:

In the 2017 NFL draft, an explosive and athletic pass-rusher from the SEC topped the charts as the No. 1 overall pick. It could happen again in 2018, thanks to LSU’s Arden Key.

Another dynamic edge defender who can be a nightmare for opposing blockers and quarterbacks alike, Key flashed impressive traits for the Tigers, sporting a similar frame and skill set to Georgia’s Leonard Floyd, who was a top-10 pick two years ago.

LINK

Tim Williams was slotted as a 1st rounder just last draft about this time a year ago.

quote:

According to Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell, who cites league sources, Williams may fall to the second round as a result of “many failed drug tests.” Campbell reports that Williams’ “substance abuse issues are very serious in the realm of Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory.”

quote:

According to CBS Sports, Williams is ranked as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the 2017 Draft class, and No. 17 player overall.

LINK

Once again, the same questions came about concerning him & his draft stock slid like a ton of bricks, all the way to the 3rd round. Posters like yourself will never learn.

It’s unclear to me exactly what you are contending from my post but here is a simple google search about Gregory’s weight concerns. Please google & read these articles.

A team would be more inclined to draft a 250 end with 7 failed drug tests as opposed to a 236 (lol!!) end with failed drug test.

As for Tim Williams, he was light in the arse too and proved to be just an ok athlete at that weight. Just like Gregory it wasn’t enough to force a team’s hands.

Take this from a positiger. When Arden key was locked in and laser-focused he was unblockable. But if I was a GM I wouldn't draft him anywhere in the top three rounds. I'm not going to invest in the future of my franchise on someone who couldn't even focus before the money was there..... How is he supposed to be locked in and engaged once he has millions of dollars in his pocket. You got a reminds me of a Charles Grant type player...... In terms of heart. Maybe I'm Wrong

I'm a huge LSU and Saints fan and would love to see a couple of tigers on the roster..... But not him

Leonard Floyd

HT: 6'6" WT: 244LBS

POSITION: OLB

SCHOOL: Georgia

ARM LENGTH: 33 1/8"

HANDS: 10 1/8"

quote:

All thin everything. Gangly frame produces marginal play strength. Built like a wide receiver and needs to live in a team cafeteria and weight room. Not an edge-setter. Gets long arms into defender effectively, but struggles to gain extension. Loses fight for neutral zone at point of attack. Issues shedding blocks forces him into downfield tackler rather than backfield playmaker. Drag-down tackler with little pop behind pads as a hitter. Must work to keep pad level lower on inside rush move.

Despite being viewed in the same undersized, thin framed boat as Gregory, look where Floyd was drafted.

quote:

SELECTED BY: Bears ROUND: 1PICK (OVERALL): 9

Hmmm........ I wonder why Floyd went so high while Gregory dropped like a sack of shite?!
