Payton is a great offensive mind and would still have a lot to do with the weekly build up for the offensive game plan. I’d think he’d be great just doing normal head coach duties during the game and leaving everything else to a coordinator, may help his game clock management also.

If we were to keep Brees, maybe a Scott Linehan type guy who likes to be run oriented. Get a 3rd RB either mid rounds, deep RB draft so a good one will fall, or a decent FA. Just a boring old school type O with Kamara, Murray, and whoever else. If we lose Brees maybe even having Carmichael take over or find someone else depending on what QB we are gonna go with.

Basically I’d like to see him take the Orgeron (CEO) approach. He shits the bed in the playoffs with clock management too often, hell even during the regular season. I think if the play calling, if willing to give it up,would improve our team on game day.

ETA: Plus it would be fun to watch him lose his shite and cuss out the OC when he fricks up

I agree, I just think it would help. Sometimes he’ll swallow his pride though and change for the good, just takes him a few years too long

Bill Parcells had Payton pegged correctly from day 1.

Power doesnt change or alter one's flaws, it only reveals those flaws more completely. Sean Payton hasn't changed one iota from when Parcells stripped him of playcalling duties.

We should feel lucky we got the 1 SB.

I’d actually like to see us get a true defensive coordinator. And I’m not saying Payton hasn’t made some head scratching offensive play calls and in game decisions. But we’ve lost a lot of games with the defense on the field last.

I don’t know man, in today’s NFL, the vast majority of defenses shite the bed at the end of the game several times a year. We’ve been through enough D coordinators, GW defenses here shite the bed often also. 49ers D basically did against us, we just shite it more right after. I don’t hate DA as much as some, I’m kinda reserved regarding him, no love or hate. Don’t know who out there would be better.

ETA: Just saw about Wade Phillips. I’d take him over DA in a heart beat

None will want to come here unless they have control of offense play calling. Other than that, it would essentially be a demotion.

Only option would be to find a rising star, but then we'd probably be looking at constant TO at the OC position; and SP wouldn't trust them with play calling or schemes.

This

Sean Payton is a genius offensive play caller 85% of the time.

He is a full retard 15% of the time.

He also might be one of the worst coaches in the NFL when it comes to time management.

CSP doesn't have many flaws at all as a head coach. Time management is his biggest flaw though imo. The odd thing is that he could easily study that for a week or 2 & should be able to correct the problem. He's a very smart guy, & that's a very easy problem to fix.

Personally, I'm ok with CSP calling plays...even if he does have a couple games a year when his plan doesn't work. That's every coach though. Even when our talent was down...CSP still produced a good offense.

CSP will always be the actual OC here in New Orleans...regardless of who has the job title of OC. Kind of like Belichik & the defense in New England.

At most, CSP might let the OC call plays. That's about as far as that will go though. Carmichael has called plays for us in the past, but it was only on a temporary basis.

This is a blatantly stupid premise. Sean Payton is the greatest offensive play caller of his era save for maybe Andy Reid. You want to replace him in an emotional fit because the offense executed good play calls like shite yesterday?

I agree.

CSP will always be the OC and call plays.

He will never give that up.

I do believe his play calling and time management has cost us in critical games.

This year...49ers and Vikings

His best job of play calling may have been with Teddy Bridgewater playing.

He had to rely on the running game and defense.

The reason why Parcells took play calling away from him is because he continued to forget about the running game.

He forgets that Latavious Murray is on our team.

I agree with you. I just feel he still keeps using Brees like he’s 30. I just feel another coordinator would establish and stick with the run. I understand most everyone disagreeing. Well, literally everyone Sometimes even I come up with dumb ideas, hard to believe, I know.

I mean he doesn’t. Drew and he have adapted his game really well. The reason people keep complaining is that the few times we went deep it didn’t work.

They hardly ever go deep anymore.

Sean has been running a short intermediate pass game with run support the last few years.

It’s a far cry from 30 year old drew throwing 30 yards on a line to graham between the hashes, but they made it work.

I think the main thing people are undervaluing is the injury to Eli Apple and our d-line men, and though I’ve heard it mentioned, the guard position.

Oh, and just plain old execution.

That is very true and a good point, about the short and intermediate passes. As far as the run support, I agree last year we seemed balanced. He got out of whack with balance this year though. Murray, at least in my opinion, should have been running it at minimum 10 times a game, with Kamara sprinkled in on runs, and Kamara still in for pass routes. I think Brees is still deadly when he's on, I just don't know how much the injury effected his throwing, dude was throwing dimes against the Texans.

This offseason will be interesting. I'd just like to see us get another good RB, be more run oriented and let Brees kill defenses on play action. Instead of him passing it 35-45 times a game. If we can give him less reps, late in the season, if need be, his arm will still be fresh and he can air it out.

Right let’s take the offense out of possibly the most gifted offensive mind in the world to someone like Scott Linehan. I mean, do you even stop for a second to think about how stupid you sound? I’m amazed at some of the absolute batshit crazy things I’ve read in the past 24 hours.
