OP is correct. The record does not dictate the full quality of a QB. Archie Manning is still considered one of the greats, but his record was shite. A QB still needs 21 other players to win games. While you can't disregard the record, it's not the telling factor of his greatness or weakness.

The true qualifier is what is the record of a QB related to the team around him. The Greats will take average to above average teams and win games they otherwise shouldn't.

No it is not

Yes it absolutely is. It takes a whole team to win. It only takes a QB to throw 2 picks or 2 fumbles to lose.

Now I'm not saying a QB can't drive down the field at the end of the game and throw a game winning pass. He won but so did 10 others.

At what point have the Saints been in position to win with Rattler at the helm?

Week 1 dummy. I can tell you don't watch the games.

However, when people are bringing up Rattler's lack of wins; it always appears to be he sucks, his stats are not good and some are inflated because of X, oh by the way he still has not won a game. IMO, that does become a legitimate reflection on him.

Tyler Shough would be 0-4 right now also. We know this because Kellen Moore trusts Rattler over the QB he drafted. You think Shough is going to stand in the pocket and deliver strikes with the line letting free defenders through? Hell no. He'll fold like a cheap tent.

We are 0-4 because we don't have any playmakers and the team is old and frankly sucks.

Let's talk about this 0-10 BS. Yall think a 5th rd rookie should have put the worst team in the league on his back and carry them to wins against playoff teams? Lmao. You expected him to be the next Brady?

Rattler has alot of improving to do but the record is not a reflection of his play. He almost beat a Jayden Daniels led Washington team last year. We went for 2 and he barely missed Juwan. Hit his fingers. I guess you could say he should have converted that to another WR but had we tied it's possible he wins that game. We'll never know.

If he loses the next 2 games without throwing downfield he will be benched.

It’s one factor or data point among many.

No matter what you think, it’s what is used.

Why is Tom Brady the GOAT? Did he catch all of those passes or stop any opposing defenses?

Did he single handedly win seven super bowls?

No, no, and no.

But he’s the GOAT because he led his teams to seven Super Bowl victories.

QB is said to be the most important position in football. Some say it’s the most important position in team sports.

You can’t overlook 0-10 when riding with Rattler as your QB1. You just can’t.

Yes it is, but you’re trying to disguise it. Nothing else would have prompted this discussion.

I've literally called for shough all season. You're a DA

ETA... I started a thread about Mac jones last night. I asked about USC qb in a thread. I started a thread about Ty Simpson. I'm looking for a qb everywhere but the saints' locker room

I disagree with this. i watched plenty of Tom Brady football and hes the GOAT because the NFL wanted him to be the GOAT. Allowing his OLine to hold for 10 seconds and never calling a penalty. It was mostly defense and kickers that won his SBs. That Tampa SB.was almost guided because of how lucky Tampa got. Hes had great games but he had ALOT of help.

You calling for Shough all season has nothing to do with you starting a thread about whether we should judge QBs on wins and losses.

Spencer Rattler and his relationship with Saints fans prompted that discussion and this thread.

I think he’s probably in top 50-60. No way is he 29, 32, 42, 48.
Most 2nd string guys would be an improvement over Rattled.

It would be most entertaining to hear your reasoning why judging a QB based on his record is the tell all. We need a laugh.

It all depends on context and other factors at the time…

So an admission the record does NOT tell all. Got it.

I’m sorry…I thought we were talking about evaluating NFL QBs. We’re clearly not discussing the same topic when you lead with a suggestion that Tom Brady is not, in fact, the GOAT when it comes to NFL QBs.
