Has Peat's main issue over his career with us just been injuries?

If he's in, he's solid?

he's usually solid, lays a stinker from time to time. i just wanna see penning get it together this year so we don't have to draft another LT. hell, i'd be happy if penning could become an average LG.

I don't know if I would say solid but serviceable sometimes. Against the jags he was on skates all day at left tackle (not his natural position, he is a Guard) and was getting pushed back. He played better against the Colts but that's not much to judge him on.

The main problem with Peat, imo, is he's the 5th highest guy on the salary cap list. The Saints way over payed for essentially a backup lineman.

The other problem is your best ability in the NFL is availability due to the 53 man roster. And Peat has missed way to much time to match his top 5 salary.

Hopefully this is more of a vet day off injury report and he can continue to build on the Colts game.

It's shame Penning hasn't stepped up into the starting Lt role as a first round draft pick. The analysis on Penning was he would need time to develop and hopefully that's what's happening instead of Penning being a bust.

He’s oft injured and he’s bad. He is the reason Brees hurt his thumb a few years ago by allowing pressure up the middle.

If he is out do they slide Hurst out to LT or give Penning another chance this season? I thought Garcia looked good at Guard. And Erving from the practice squad had a decent game against the Jags at RT. Maybe give him a shot at LT and leave Hurst at Guard.

I don't think he has ever been injured in his entire career. I think he is the biggest pussy to ever wear a Saints helmet.

He’s serviceable and even pretty decent at times, but with Peat, his negative impact often outweighs the positive. For OL, the less you hear their names the better. It usually means they’re doing their job well when you don’t. It feels like whenever Peat’s playing, especially at T since he’s a much better G, there’s sacks or big negative plays attributed directly to him. Every time.

What’s worse, he’s hurt all the time. Put it all together and he’s just not worth his salary to be an oft-injured glorified backup.

I haven't been able to watch the saints very closely this year but....

over the last three seasons, the offense had a noticeably better rhythm whenever Peat was on the sideline.

Not this season. Offense has been noticeably better with Peat playing LT. When Hurst/Penning were there, it has been a disaster.

That's great, then. Him at Guard is atrocious.

To be fair that was 2 time Defensive MVP top 5 best DT of all time Aaron Donald that caused that. All pro guards aren't shutting that guy down all game
