I personally feel the Saints need to try and find the "next" Sean Payton

Of course that's a tall task and teams go through numerous coaches before they find the guy that just fits, but the Saints are at a crossroads and need to find the next guy, and not the same band minus the lead singer.

Sean Payton established a winning culture and Loomis and company need to identify the next coach that will build on it, and not keep it status quo.

Why settle for Dennis Allen? He flopped as a head coach and outside of the Bears has drawn absolutely no interest around the league. He's Ed O. There's no one going after him and no reason to give him the job.

Brian Flores had something building in Miami, but clashes with poor ownership doomed him. Take a chance of Leftwich or even Glenn. Hell, even Daboll if the Giants pass on him.

I'm ready for a new coach with new ideas and a new direction for the team. Not a rehash of former Paytonites who will live by "What Would Payton Do?"

The answer to that is draft a center in back to back drafts

Anyway, change is good and I embrace it.

I mean yeah every team wants a young offensive guru. The problem is there aren’t a ton of those guys floating around. If you look at Payton, McVay, and shanahan you see an obvious common thing between them. They were all fairly young when they got their head coaching gig.

I’d love to land one of those guys but I think it will be extremely hard.

Dennis Allen flopped at the raiders but I don’t think judging him off that stint is fair. The raiders were a complete disaster at the time. Allen’s time under Payton has probably helped him grow a lot also. I don’t think he would be a home run hire but I think he would be solid.

It's easy -- just find a once in a generation coach and a once in a generation QB

If we hire offense, give me Daboll. Defense, Flores. The rest are all meh candidates.

I'd take Mike McDaniel but weed isn't legal in Louisiana

Forgot about him. He's probably the closest to the "next" Sean Payton.

Why would you not take the best DC in the NFL if you want defense. Allen all day!

Big thing here on Allen vs. Outside guy Is that Allen would likely keep assistants and other staff pretty much the same so not a big change in team organization. Outside guy would likely bring in selected coaches and staff and kick some of existing Saints people to the curb. Good or bad?

The Saints landing Payton was pure luck.. the stars were aligned.. If GB decided on him we would have been SOL.. He was a once in a lifetime win.. Same goes for Brees.

IMHO the Saints need to try and find a guy who is BETTER than the next Sean Payton.

How about a hand with this, Lowes.
It appears you've inadvertently responded to a post/question directed to me over on the tRecruiting Board.
Unfortunately, that looks to others like you are not in fact a human with your own opinions, but an Alter of me.

Have you been in a fricking cave the last few weeks? We’ve signed 12 transfers for christs sake.

No haven't been in a cave. I been laying in the snow for last few weeks enjoying it.

Could you clean this up with a post here and mention the 3 folks who thought you were an Alt? They are Ronk, Jugular Joe, and DCtiger1

Thanks, My Man!

Let's see...
The Saints can continue with the culture that Sean Payton has built over the last 16 years and hire from within.
OR
Bring in an outsider and start over.

You think Loomis is going disrespect his best friend by starting completely over? You have rocks in your head.

Finding another Payton isn't happening anytime soon. Just like finding a replacement for Brees. Get Real.

No matter how all this works out, he needs to be on the phone with Cincinnati about draft picks for Armstead. 2 at least. Maybe a 2 & 3. Maybe a 1 & 4 or 5.

That's literally every team tries to do and very few actually do it successfully.
