The fact that we were throwing to Tommylee Lewis last year is all the evidence we need that we need another WR.

He was picked in the 3rd round (91) and was our 2nd player picked being that we didn’t have a second round pick that year. So he/WR was a priority position.

Na it’s all good. I thought we picked him in the second and had to look it up. Still, point being, I’m not opposed to us draft another WR. However calling Smith “just a body” and wanting us to draft another rookie WR seems nonsensical.

Dude it is far too early to label Smith a disappointment. He and Kirkwood will make jumps this year

After those two we really have several unknown variables right now

And a rookie WR wouldn't be unproven?

Smith only caught 28 balls -
23 went for first downs
6 went for 20+ yards
5 went for TDs

For a "raw" 3rd rd rookie who was banged up the rest of the reason after the Eagles game. We call that potential

It feels like the injury bug hits a position group hard every year. I'd feel a lot better getting a wr that could contribute if one is available. I have real concerns about Ginn, Meredith, or Dez staying healthy and productive.

It's no less a reach than any other position. This team is pretty developed.

I guess some people think we're implementing the Run and Shoot offense and need four starting caliber wideouts.

I think it’s similar to how we all felt during the 2010 playoffs when we had bums playing RB due to injuries. So we panicked and traded up for Ingram

I think we have dudes at WR on the roster currently, but I wouldn’t mind another body.

The fact that when teams started double teaming Michael Thomas the offense wasn't as good bc they didn't have another threat at wr

I’m not going to debate that. I have no issue with saying that we could use another WR. However it is nonsensical when people call Smith just another body, inexperienced, and underdeveloped and then advocate us taking another rookie WR as an answer to that criticism.

Only two receivers I wanted were deebo and aj brown...since that isn't a possibility I have no clue what they will do

Hakeem butler is 6'5 with 4.48 speed. Needs to work on his drops some but he would be one hell of a new target for Brees.

Because Ginn and Meredith were out and Smith was hurt at that point.

Once Ginn came back things immediately started to open up again.

Also the lack of a TE that could get vertical hurt us greatly. Watson's wheels fell off the second half.

Exactly this. Injuries happen and it sucks but that doesn't mean you acquire excessive personnel to account for the unaccountable.
