I'm not trolling. These punishments are too harsh, and I agree with that, but get the facts right.

There are a lot of great people to talk to on this board, and its a disservice that people are going full retard. Hell, today alone I've read that this is a "death penalty", that the NFL hates New Orleans, Goodell has a personal vendetta of some sort.

Oh, and Rjones, thats very mature.

No, I think he's fining a coach, asst. coach, GM, etc. for instituing a system to reward causing injury AND not stopping/covering it up when the league found out about it. Yes, bounty systems were/are league wide. But flat out giving the league a big F-You when they tell you to stop doing it will get you in a shitload of trouble.

This x 1000. Obviously an ex-Saints employee came to the NFL with this information. If this employee was willing to go to the NFL, he was also willing to go to the press. The NFL told them to knock it off and they didn't. Instead of just saying "You got it commish" and moving on, they told him to frick off and tried to cover it up which pissed him off even more. Add to this the past relationship miscues that Payton has had with Goodell and he layed the wood to your HC.

What fricked the Saints was the disgruntled ex-employee that originally forced the NFL's hand, and the subsequent middle fingers given to Goodell by Payton and Loomis.

If my team, the Vikings,

This explains your posts now. Vikings fans are some of the biggest sore losers in sports. They cannot accept the fact they got beat by the Saints in the NFC championship game. And we also came out the next year and beat them again.

Something Vikings fans need to do is learn how to take a loss like a man. The better team won that year and every time since then. I took my loss to the 49'ers and admitted to myself that the 49'ers beat us and were a better team. The did something the Saints couldn't do this past year. They went to Green Bay and to San Francisco and won both games.

Your team is irrelevant. They could not find there way out of a wet paper bag.

So if a team purposely injured Brees and ruined the Saints season possibly Brees career would you be okay with that team getting a lesser punishment?

Let them continue their ignorance. Everyone's going to keep being ignorant and when someone fricks up again, the penalties will be worse.

By the way, RedMustang, you seem to be an Auburn fan. Does your logic apply to buying National Championships or...?

The problem is that the Saints deliberately attempted to cover this up.

Who's career did we ruin? And what quarterback did we knock out of the game? Favre and Warner both finished out the game. And Favre had a chance to beat us the next season and still couldn't do it.

I work in New York and I keep hearing from Giants fans about how bad the bounty situation is and how we deserve this punishment. These fans dont see the dangerous precedent that Goodell is setting here. He is basically fining a coach $8 million and punishing a team for playing hard and doing what people love about the NFL. Don't they understand that if you let this happen to the Saints, then whose to say that Goodell won't arbitrarily lay the wood on your favorite team? Don't be stupid and say "my team would never do this!". Truth is, your team already does this. Don't be a disingenuous sanctimonious ignorant dick!

Outside of Saints fans, few view this as a travesty.

It's not the bounty program, it's the coverup and the attempt to keep it going.

The 49ers were way more vicious this year then almost any other team in the league. What if Roger wakes up tomorrow and decides he doesn't like that?

The NFL celebrates players like Dick Butkus all the time and play interviews were he proudly admits to attempting to cause serious bodily harm to players of the opposing team. This NFL as glorified the big hit its entire history, then instantly goes crazy with suspensions on the Saints. The NFL is the definition of hypocrite!
