Like he has a lot of potential. I thought he looked really good but he was playing in the second half of a preseason game so probably pretty weak competition. Maybe next week we see him against better players and can asses further.

Just read through all the posts on the 1st page. He will be this preseason's Haener.

I suspect he will continue to look great against backups and guys that won't be in the league in a few weeks; but will never get a legit shot to see how well he'll do against other teams #1s & 2s; therefore, we truly won't know this season

Nah, he looked a lot better than that.

Most 5th rd QBs are going to look rough, regardless of it being late in a preseason game... because they will also be "guys that will be selling insurance in 2 months".

Rattler looked good. Live arm, solid accuracy, seemed pretty composed and in command out there. Led the team on a 2 minute drill for the winning TD, on a series of short passes. Sounds easy enough, but he didn't make any mistakes during that drive that would have fricked it up. Didn't hold the ball, put it in danger, or get sacked during that drive, it was all very smooth.

He looked small out there actually. I was expecting him to be larger. He had a lot of zip on the ball, sometimes too much for his receivers to handle. He was pretty accurate and ran well. He looked like a 5th round QB in his first pre-season game.

He looked alright. Looked like an average QB but he was playing against scrubs so dont know how much you can take away from this game. Now some posters are saying hes the next Tom Brady so theres that

I don't think so.

I don't expect a late round rookie in his first game, to come out and run a 2 minute drill for real, and look solid. He was facing scrubs; he was throwing to scrubs too. Didn't have Olave, or even Perry out there. It was all on him...
he was composed and aware out there, didn't run around looking panicked. Wasn't really any confusion, outside of maybe that play they called a TO on. And I'm not sure that wasn't on the coaching staff- you're under 20 seconds and in field goal range for the W, are you milking the clock or trying to get a TD? It kinda looked like they were doing both on that one play, and Rattler did btw get the snap at 1 sec on the playclock if you watched. On the play following, Rattler clearly threw it away to get to the kick.

He looked like an All Pro compared to Ian Book and Garrett Grayson. 2 QBs picked rounds ahead of him.

Not compared to those guys.

Book and Grayson could not physically play at the NFL level. No amount of coaching would help them, they needed cybernetic arm implants.

I'm not saying Rattler WILL be the next star in the league, but he can physically play. Good arm, and he also seems to already have better onfield awareness (after 1 preseason second half) than either of those guys did a couple years in the system. He made good reads, a couple nice throws, and extended the play a couple times. He had command of the huddle, and there was no obvious miscommunication between him and the receivers. He missed a back shoulder throw, then came back and hit it a couple plays later. He got sacked, but seemed aware and was moving to get out of the pocket (just didn't have the space to do so). None of his passes sailed way off the target, unless you count his last one... and that was a clear throwaway to stop the clock with under 10 seconds.

No chaos at the line, unless you count that play late where the coaches called the final timeout... and as I recall, he called for the snap as they called timeout. It was just too tight, he needed to do that about 2 seconds quicker ... for comfort. It wouldn't have been a delay of game, he just pushed it too long for the coaches. But we WERE burning clock then, which is what he was supposed to be doing.

I didn't see 1 "why do that" or "what the hell are you doing" moment out of him.

That's pretty damn good for a 5th rd rookie in his first game. Given his physical ceiling, I have no complaints at all about this guy.

Hear me out. He looked like a prime Drew Brees with a stronger arm, less accuracy and more speed. I liked what I saw for the most part. He should be our starting QB as we already know Carr’s ceiling is a mediocr, zero playoff win, QB.
