How utterly stupid was re-signing Kamara?

It was bad in real time but if you add hindsight, it's unspeakably bad.

I wouldn’t call it bad or good. The man wants to retire a saint and his contract isn’t that bad. To call it unspeakably bad is a bit reactionary.

From a team building perspective it was an insanely dumb. We’re obviously bottoming out while paying an insane premium to a guy who will be in his 30s at a position 80+ percent of the league doesn’t dump a bunch of money into. All things equal that money would’ve been much better served even to build quality line depth.

I’m not sure how much it saved us over the next two years though.

Well it’s not that stupid from Loomis’s perspective when the running back you drafted to replace him can’t stay on the field and is getting outplayed by almost all the running backs taken after him,

Namely Achane, Bigsby, Brown,

It’s called having to save face

“Unspeakably bad” strikes me as hyperbolic. In hindsight, though, certainly not good.

Name a better pass catcher/runner/weapon anyone.

Cmac. Barkley? Mixon (having a career year and was still hurt)?

Who else?

Got Karens rampage. Agreed.

We can certainly build around Kamara

No you can't. Running backs don't last into their 30s.

We are going to need 3 years to clean our cap.

You think he's going to be around then?

Idk, it trading him or letting him walk was probable the easiest move this team could’ve made on paper. That is, if they were interested in shedding salaries and gaining draft capital (which maybe they weren’t doing two weeks ago)

I have stanned Kamara for years, but I’d rather see the team moving in the right direction. Don’t really give a frick if he wants to retire a saint

They need at least a couple guys that put asses in seats. Yeah it's a rebuild but it's still a business.

So draft another mid round rb or so. Elevate a practice squad guy or poach one.

If you accept that we’re bottoming out it doesn’t really matter. It would be less than 1/10th of the cost of kamara going forward.

He is our whole offense.
Until now we were at least trying to win.

He’s older than all of them. They’re also all playing on playoff teams, not teams vying for the #1 overall pick.

So why extend him mid season? Seems like the prudent thing would’ve been to let it play out a bit?

He's not a QB. He's going to be 30 next year. By time this team is possibly out of this hell hole of a salary cap situation, he'll probably be retired.

I don't think some of you are grasping that this is not a simple mini rebuild this team has to go through
