How soon can the Saints trade talent like Kamara to get draft picks?

Terms of some contracts don't allow immediate trading.

I hope that AK can be traded while he still has some value. He might as well play elsewhere. No way he'll carry the ball in a playoff game this year with the Saints. Might as well trade him for value.

You wouldn't get enough to justify it

I would think the issue we might run into is, are guys like Cam Jordan, Demario Davis and Alvin Kamara don't necessarily want to get traded. The main guy we should trade for almost anything is Olave instead of paying him. You can tell he's mentally checked out and just trying to survive to get the 2nd contract. He's going to take whatever guaranteed signing bonus he gets from that and retire in 1-2 years.

If our guys want to be Saints, and play like it, then I say keep them.

It’s tough seeing them age.. I still haven’t come to terms with it yet that they are close to being done and the golden era of saints football has reached its end. Love those 3.

I’d like to see him go to a contender. Alvin has been a great Saint, he deserves better

I dont disagree with the idea of trading Olave.

But all the other teams know what we know with his health. May almost be better letting him walk in the hopes some team gives him a large deal. Get a decent compensatory pick

This. Wouldn’t get much for him.

Kamara loves Saints and wants to retire a Saint.

As noted previously, the compensation wouldn’t be significant because of age and tread on the tires.

Just let Kamara play out his time with Saints and they can put him in Saints Hall of Fame at a later time.

— Trading Olave is another story !!

Translation:

He’s worth more to the Saints as a team member than the shitty draft pick you would get for him in a trade.

They waited too long… he’s old for a RB with much tread on tires over his career.

I don't think you can anything of real value to trade AK. For starters, his cap hit this year is $10.1M, $18.6M nest year, then $8.1M in dead money in 2027. You trade him now, you are still on the hook for $7.1M this year plus $176k for every game he plays for the team. And then next year you have a $15.2M cap hit. So from a cap persepective, it does not make a ton of sense unless you get a quality pick in return.

For a 30 year old RB with some miles on his legs that has an $11.5M salary next year; I am not sure how much you are really getting in return. Mid round pick at best?

Olave and Taysom if healthy could help a contender before the trade deadline. AK seems happy here.

What do you mean, we just traded 2 draft picks for warm body at receiver. The entire front office should be nuked.

Are you trying to get a 5th or 6th round pick?
