What? That ball was not thrown well at all. Henderson made an incredible adjustment to catch it. Did you really not see that?

Every one except for the Tampa game. And I've had the same season tickets since 1997.

So, we're supposed to convince you that your opinion of Drew Brees is wrong?

Mostly I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this. That's pretty much what's happened. Why are you so upset about this?

Yes, it was underthrown. But areyiu really using that as a reason he has no shown up in big games?

This is just another one of those stupid threads where someone acts like all other qb's are just great. Like Brady or manning have never underthrown a ball.

No. I'm using it as evidence that, in my opinion, he as not been as sharp in the big games as he's been in the not so big games. Although I think the best contrary evidence of this is the New England game this year where he was on fire.

No it's not. It's another one of those message board threads where people ask questions and exchange opinions. No need to freak out about it.

He may not have played perfect in big games, but by no means has he played poorly. Being off on a few throws doesn't mean he hasn't shown up in big games.

Might it be that the mechanics of a flea flicker are a little bit more difficult than a conventional pass, that plus he didn't have nearly the reps with that play like he's had with conventional pass plays.

Because your query is quite convoluted. You have a desire for the board to prove you wrong, yet you cannot clearly state what you want proven wrong.

I certainly am not upset. Your goal is not clearly set, so the means to arrive at your goal are clouded in a shroud of mysterious fog. You have to clear the fog and present something cogent.

Now you stated that you just wanted the board's opinion on the matter. However, you did not state this as your goal. You stated that you wanted "us" , as a collective, to convince you that "something" is wrong. We do not know what it is that you perceive as wrong. I then had no choice but to put forth an assumption. I was not comfortable with this, but the incoherency of the primary argumentative point was as such that I had no opportunistic or authoritative measure to take save for an assumptive stance.

If you could please take a more poignant stance, it will certainly aid in somehow alleviating the lack of mental awareness displayed thus far.

I think we can all agree he wasn't particuarly sharp last week against Minnesota

I'd say he was ok against Arizona

How many points did the Saints score in each of those games. Not sharp against the Vikings and still hung a shitload on one of the best defenses in the league. Lets not even begin to talk about how he dismantled Arizona.

quote:

He played well against New England and the Giants this year. But both of those teams ultimately turned out to be mediocre.

New England was considered the biggest non-playoff game in the Saints history. Brees destroyed them. Who cares if they didn't show up, the Saints offense did.

quote:

He was pretty clutch against Miami but Miami wasn't exactly a great team either.

Their defense was stellar and Brees took them apart in the second half (on the road).

quote:

The only time I remember him making a clutch play in either the 2007 or 2008 seasons was the touchdown he threw to Colston against Chicago in 08. Otherwise, most of his numbers came in blowouts against average or below average opponents

The same can be said about every QB in the league. All the good stats come against weaker opponents. What is your point? What record did he lead the Saints to this year? (and don't count the last game of the season because no one cared if we won that one)

quote:

Convince me I'm wrong.

See above or Cliff notes below:

1. Third biggest game of Brees' career = 38 against New England.
2. Second biggest game of Brees' career = 45 against Arizona.
3. Biggest game of Brees' career = 31 against Minnesota.

Wow, if these are games where Brees did not play well, I can wait until he plays well in the Superbowl and scores 50+ against the Colts. Good luck Peyton with trying to keep pace.

I hear you. But I never meant to imply that he hasn't "showed up" in big games. I just think he hasn't been as sharp in the big games as he's been in the other games.

I probably should've said from the beginning that this thread presupposes that Brees is an elite quarterback. I wouldn't trade the guy for anyone in the league right now.

Why? You should give them up to a real fan. How could you possibly interject this negative stupid bullshite on eve of this the biggest Saints game ever, that DB got us in for practical purposes?

Granted, he has not been sharp in 3/4 playoff games, although 3 were victories. The flea flicker was nto a "badly" thrown pass, just over Henderson's opposite shoulder and he make a good adjustment to get it--Brees and his receivers practice just these type of situations, by the way.

Indy fans and commentators had all the same discussions about Peyton Manning constantly until he won the big one. When the Saints win this discussion will be moot.

(or as joey on "Friends" says, it will be a moo point--like a cow's opinion, a Moo point, it just doesn't matter :}

I agree about this, especially considering where they were on the field at the time. He didn't have a ton of room to throw to by the time Thomas sent the ball back to him.

The irony is that most of you didn't even post here until the mid-way point of this season.

You seriously think the Saints practiced that flea flicker as much as their conventional pass plays this season?
