How exactly is Carr supposed to be good when the O Line played so badly?

I guess many were waiting for the “same old Carr” hot take but what’s he supposed to do when the interior line is getting smashed and he can’t plant his feet to throw?
Every QB would look terrible playing behind our line today. Was McCoy really that valuable? I guess so.

Every team will play the Saints the same way this year. The Eagles are a roadmap. Hopefully we can fix it.

I dont think Carr was bad. I mean he wasn’t awesome but he’s not why we lost. It was just a clunky, no rhythm day for the whole offense.

Fortunately, not every NFL team has the talent level The Eagles have on the defensive line matter fact I don’t think there’s another team with that talent level.

Nah, every team doesn’t have elite interior pass rushers. Also, if McCoy plays this game looks very different. Hopefully McCoy is back soon.

During the Brees years it was constantly discussed about the importance of the interior OL.
I think you have to look at only did you lose McCoy and strong play at the center position. When Patrick moved over he didn’t play well at Center and the play at LG got dramatically worse with his replacement.

He was supposed to lead to a field goal attempt on that last drive.

First of all, you aren’t wrong. The OL played horribly. However, I think what’s frustrating about Carr is he has no ability to escape the pocket and extend the play. He is a complete statue back there. Any little pressure and the play is as good as dead.
If teams can stop the run against us I do not trust Carr to win us the game.

This is fair

Almost no one can extend plays at QB from pressure up the middle.

Well no shite when the line doesn’t hold up in the middle, nobody can. That’s not a carr specific issue

There’s no way anyone who isn’t a moron could watch that game and come away thinking Carr and Hurts faced the same amount of pressure.

Both guards pulling in and blocking each other tells you all you need to know about this OL.

I never said they face same amount of pressure Lol but let’s not act like our DL was getting pressure on hurts smh

No we had zero interior pass rush on purpose
The defense wanted to hold the pocket an make hurts beat you.
We got destroyed by a tightend

Carr got sack 1 to hurts getting sack 4 so he wasn’t have a clean pocket either that what I’m saying we can’t expect every time we throw the ball Carr gone have a clean pocket this is nfl the other team trying to win also

Carr is really bad against pressure. Much more so than the better QBs. That’s been the knock on him his entire career.
The first two games the scheme allowed a very average OL to be effective. That allowed Carr to be effective. As soon as McCoy left you saw how perilous the Saints offense is. The butterfly effect is the Saints immediately got much worse a center, which made them much worse at guard, which put more pressure on the tackles (one a rookie and the other, at best, an average), which then increased the pressure against a QB who is really bad at handling it. Combine that without the versatility of Hill to find a few plays no one else can make, and the OC was a victim of his personnel. There was just nothing he could do. Philly could focus on shutting down the run knowing Carr will melt more often than not against pressure.
The Saints need all of their starters. Any glitch in the matrix (today literally two players) destroys the whole system

I don't understand the hate on Carr... He was under pressure almost every play... This is what it is... The O-Line stunk up the joint today and Philly's secondary was obviously playing well... Also Philly's D-line played very good... How many deep passes did Carr have today? How many times did he check down? Carr only had 142 passing yards... Kamara on 26 runs had 87 yards...

Carr can’t not win a game for you. It has to be perfect for him to be successful.
He’s been that same player his whole career.
