Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings have offered a contract to free agent OG Nick Easton.

He met with New Orleans earlier this week and may take another visit or two while mulling the Vikings' offer. Easton missed all of last year following neck surgery and wasn't anything special the year before, grading out as PFF's No. 65 guard out of 80 qualifiers. Either way, it doesn't look like the Harvard alum will be on the market for long.

I love how we're focusing on the trenches so far.

Peat struggles on the right side of the line.

Did any of you geniuses actually think that maybe a move like this would show Peat the door? He's a huge cap number that could be traded with basically no penalty. Peat is the weak link on the line right now why tf would you trade Armstead a top 5 LT in the league? Get what you can for Peat and trade him. He's not going to be on this team when his contract is up anyway.

Think the Saints keep Peat this year. While he struggled at times his versatility in a pinch is valuable for all OL positions except center. Also the Saints kept Tom and Clapp on the 53 for a reason as they must feel these young guys will be ready to take the next step

Peat can only play LG and LT in a pinch. He’s terrible when he shifts to the right side of the line because it changes his footwork. We will end up playing Peat this year and then letting him walk in free agency. If a team would offer us a 5th rounder and take the cap hit from us they would do it in a heartbeat. Tom will take over for Unger after the year and then we will have to draft a new LG or see if Clapp is ready to start.

Armstead is the second biggest cap hit on the team and has played 56% of the possible games over the past 3 seasons. 56%

Dude said top 5 LT

Why is that so funny.

Armstead is a top five Lt
Also whoever said they are cutting Armstead is crazy.

No way they cut Armstead and move peat there full time.

You don't just give up on Armstead like that.
Armstead is an elite lt and those cost money.
He is still very young

You think an elite LT plays 56% of the games? Which is actually closer to 50% considering the games he's departed early. Tackles like Whitworhth, Staley, Bahktiari, Joe Thomas before he retired, Taylor Lewan, Eric Fisher -- those guys rarely miss games. What good is a guy who makes that kind of money and can't stay on the field?

Ramczyk is now our best OL. He hasn't missed a game in two seasons except to sit week 16 this past season. Matter of fact, he and Peat have played more games in the last TWO seasons than Armstead has played in the last THREE seasons.

If Armstead were any other player making that kind of money and only playing half the time, people would be calling for his head. Three years in a row is a disturbing trend for an highly paid OL who hasbt played more than 14 games in his career

Hopefully Unger gave the saints a heads up and allowed them to find a replacement. Him making the announcement now might mean they have locked up deal.

10. B.J. FINNEY, CENTER
Finney is probably the most unknown of the commodities on this list after three partial seasons in which he has been stuck behind Ramon Foster, Maurkice Pouncey, and David DeCastro. When he has played, though, he has been steady and reliable, grading at 72.8 in 2016, 66.4 in 2017 and 71.5 in 2018. In the last two seasons, Finney has allowed just five pressures in 234 regular season pass-blocking snaps. That’s a track record that indicates he’s deserving of a starting role somewhere in 2019

PFF #10 available interior OL. He’s an RFA that they have a 2nd rd render on

Because he is always injured, he would get more in return, the line has shown to function without him in his absence... but carry on genius...

Vikings (for now) offensive lineman Nick Easton has three teams from which to choose, and he intends to make his choice soon. Via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Easton intends to make a decision by Monday as to his next destination.

The finalists are the Vikings, the Saints, and a supposed mystery team. As Tomasson notes, the Saints have a heightened urgency to lure Easton, given that he can play center and that their starting center, Max Unger, recently retired.
