The writing on the wall is getting clearer and clearer that Marcus Williams is gone. Underhill also predicted a few weeks ago that we wouldn't resign Williams. I'm kinda nervous about losing him.

...this is gonna be a long year. Can't imagine Dennis Allen's defense working without a great single-high safety.

Swap Marcus Williams for the Honey Badger? I wouldn't be super upset about that...

If you lose Marcus Williams, safety becomes a huge need. SS was already a minor need with Jenkins being up in age.

Ill trade giving up a few deep balls for a Safety that actually tackles.

Williams is key to what Allen is doing with his coverages. I imagine hes priority # 1. Hes a very good assignnent football player. Now I dont think he likes it here. Hes a west coast guy and doesnt like NOLA as a place to live. He could be difficult to resign. Huge loss if we lose him.

Did he say the team wouldn't or was he implying they may not be able to because of cap space? Isn't the tag for MW around $12.9M? Mathieu was just under $15M last year (cap hit was $19.7M), so would he come for less if they can just tag MW for $12.9M.

I think Jenkins is primed for a reduction or being designated a post 6/01 cut. That would save $7.7M against the cap

We definitely could sign him but there would be causalities elsewhere. He said something along the lines of his prediction would be that we would let him walk. But generally, if Underhill knows anything, he'll frame it as a prediction. I don't know if he actually knows anything here. I'm just reading between the lines a bit.

It sounds like the saints are going to let williams and armstead walk.

Williams is surprising to me. I guess we should've known when they didn't tag him.

There is always a chance but it seems like they don't want to pay him 16 mil a year.

Please elaborate on how you know he “doesn’t like Nola as a place to live”

You didn't know? Nola is the biggest shithole in the history of shitholes and Baton Rouge is a close second.

That would not be a even swap based on how the saints play. Badger is used basically how the saints used Malcom Jenkins the Super Bowl season. At safety sometimes but mostly on the line as a line backer or as a slot corner. You need a side line to sideline cover safety. Williams never plays on the line.

I’d rather keep Williams and cut Jenkins to sign Honey Badger. Think Jenkins was a three year deal but we could get out of it after two years if we had to.

They should have just tagged him a second year. The tag for safeties isn’t bad. Woukd be 12 this year. You hang on to young talent. Rather cut Jenkins if it means keeping Williams.
