Anybody who admitted to being a Saints fan got laughed at as some kind of masochistic moron who likes to waste time watching that garbage product. shite, you couldn't GIVE your tickets away. Nobody wanted to go to the game! Sad ole days.
We had season tickets during this time

1967-85 was horrible.
Then ‘80 was sadly abysmal
Early Bum was interesting.
But Mecom’s ownership was toxic.
The best team in the NFL for over a decade (SF) was in the NFC West alongside the Saints.
From ‘81 to ‘95 the 49ers averaged 11 wins per season and won 5 SBs
That run started during Mecom’s ownership and it sucked for the Saints.

Yes, I remember 78 79 83 etc. I just used 1967-85 generally because those were the Mecom years and it was like fighting with one hand tied behind our back. Everything had to go right for us to win a game, if we didn’t blow it at the end.

A great book for football fans- nfl record and fact book. Every fact about every team. So much info. Aints fans prolly won't like it cuz it really details the level of suck.
We are born into this world knowing
* that ol devil will try to ruin you
*we'll never win the war on drugs
*da aints will never be worth a shaat
* organization is so pitiful it can't even honor one of the top moments in team history correctly. Gleason's statue is backwards- he broke through the middle and dove to the punters right and blocked it. Da damn aints have the statue made w/ him crossing to the punters left. SAD !
Forgot, had to come back and add--Tulane had more banners hanging in the rafters than da aints. Dont anymore they moved out!!

The 83 Saints lost on a last second FG to miss the playoffs and finish 8-8. The defense was one of the NFL's best led by City Champ, a coked up Dirt Winston and Whitney Paul. Hardly a bad team.
Damn Mike Lansford and his bare foot for eternity for kicking that game winner. That also begs the question--why no more barefoot kickers? Lansford, Tony Franklin, Rich Karlis and who else.
Fun Fact--that defense was one of the all time greatest. Bruce Clark, Frank Warren, City Champ, Jim Wilks, Whitney Paul, Doc Kovacs, Dirt Winston, Dave Waymer, Frank Wattlett et al. They only score they gave up was that last second field goal. the other points came from two pick sixes thrown by the ancient stablier, a saftey and a punt return. Jeff Groth was the leading receiver. Jeff Frickin Groth. good times.

You're not really a Saint's fan, you're a win fan, which is fine.... everybody likes to win. A real Saints fan can see the effort, the determination, and grit of these players and coaches in this transitional year. A real Saints fan never wore a bag on their head. A real fan knows that this team goes to work for us every day and these players are harder on themselves than any mealy mouth win fan.... the good news for you is that the Cowboys are winning, maybe you should move on....

They're over .500 since 1986 with 15 playoff appearances, winning 9 plus 2 NFCCG appearances and a Super Bowl, better than many of the teams in the NFL in that time frame. The Saints are the 2nd winningest franchise in the NFL in last 5 or 6 years.
You don't know what 'worst' is. From 1967-1986, yes, we may have been one of the worst, if not the worst.
At least we've won a Super Bowl. Ten teams have not. Four have never even been to one.....

just imagine if Katrina didnt hit lousiana. The rigged nfl doesnt come in and hand pick 30 players to go to the saints to bring revenue back to new orleans and ultimately a super bowl
Tell me more about this dream you had.

This never happened. No true Saints fan would ever deny being a fan. Were you around in the pre-Jim Mora days?

transitional year
You say this like this is something the organization committed to but everything they did in the offseason 100% leaned towards winning now.
The "transitional year" bullshite is just that - bullshite. It's an excuse that was created out of thin air by people who want to act like they are bigger fans because they are always optimistic about the team.

quote:you’re calling them losers but during the entire Payton era the Saints were one of the top 3 winningest franchises in the entire league over 15 years
Of the 56 years of the saints existence. At least 41 of them are just misery.
