Median GM tenure is about 3-4 years, so lets see how overdue we are...Top 3 rounds, any hits afterwards I'll give him credit.

Spoiler, spelling it out --- how much longer before we overhaul this scouting department...?

2021:
Miss: 1st Payton Turner (DE); taken over Greg Rosseau (DE - Buffalo), Odafe Oweh (OLB/DE - Baltimore)
Hit: 2nd Pete Werner (LB)
Hit: 3rd Paulson Adebo (CB)

2022:
Miss: 1st Chris Olave (WR), traded 16th, 98th (3rd), 120th (4th)
Miss: 1st Trevor Penning (G/T), traded 1st - 18th, 2022 3rd, 2023 1st, 2024 2nd
Hit: 2nd Alontae Taylor (CB), although options were also Trey McBride (top 3 TE)
Miss: 3rd Round (traded)
Hit: UDFA Rashid Shaheed (WR)

2023:
Miss: 1st (Traded), could have resulted in Jalen Carter, Jamyr Gibbs, Calijah Kancey, etc the list goes on and on
Hit: 1st Bryan Bresee (DT), although options were Sam LaPorta (top 5 TE) (Part of Sean Payton trade)
Miss: 2nd Isaiah Foskey (DE), two words: Brian Branch
Miss: 3rd Kendre Miller (RB), other options - Byron Young (DE - LAR), Tucker Kraft (TE - GB), any one of the other RBs - Achane, Spears, and Bigsby
Hit: UDFA Blake Grupe (K)

2024:
Hit: 1st Taliese Fuaga (T), although other options were Laiatu Latu (DE), Byron Murphy (DT), and Jared Verse (DE) --- all 3 considered top 10 prospects at one point
Hit: 2nd Kool-Aid McKinstry, although Kamari Lassiter was taken 1 pick after. (Part of Sean Payton trade)
Miss: 2nd (Traded)
3rd - part of the CSP trade

2025:
Hit: 1st Kelvin Banks Jr (T), although we talked about Tyler Warren being the other big guy
TBD: 2nd Tyler Shough (QB), its a 50/50 split, but 3 weeks into college football none of these guys look game changing either...
TBD: 3rd Vernon Broughton (DT), now injured
TBD: 3rd Jonas Sanker (S)

1st round misses: 3 (Turner, Olave, and Penning)
1st round hits: 3 (Bresee, Fuaga, Banks)

2nd round misses: 2 (Foskey, Traded)
2nd round hits: 3 (Werner, Taylor, and McKinstry)

3rd round misses: 2 (Trade, Miller)
3rd round hits: 1 (Adebo)
One was with the CSP trade, the two TBD - Broughton and Sanker

Misc hits: 2 UDFA - Shaheed & Grupe
That means we also could not find viable starters in 5 years worth of 4th-7th rounds

2021
4th - Ian Book (QB)
6th - Landon Young (T) - backup
7th - Kawaan Baker (WR)

2022
5th - D'Marco Jackson (LB) - backup
6th - Jordan Jackson (DT)

2023
4th - Nick Saldiveri (G) - injured
4th - Jake Haener (QB) - nearly out
5th - Jordan Howden (S) - backup/ST
6th - AT Perry (WR)

2024
5th - Spencer Rattler (QB) - if you wanna call him a starter, sure
5th - Bub Means (WR) - injured
5th - Jaylan Ford (LB) - backup
6th - Khristian Boyd (DT) - backup
7th - Josiah Ezirim (T)

2025 (at least this looks more promising in pre-season)
4th - Danny Stutsman (LB) - backup
4th - Quincy Riley (CB) - backup
6th - Devin Neal (RB) - backup
7th - Moliki Matavao (TE) - backup
7th - Fadil Diggs (DE) - backup

Yeah the Loomis years have had two franchise changing drafts (2006 and 2017) and a whole lotta awful otherwise. There were some good finds sprinkled throughout the other years, but largely it’s been crap.

Two guys I really wanted us to get last year was Bowers and Brian Thomas. Bowers is the best te in the league. And Thomas was a top ten receiver as a rookie. Problem was our oline was so horrid we had to pick a tackle.

These are all hits if you consider where they were drafted and they are contributing members of the team. They may not be HRs but if they play and add depth that’s a hit after round 3.

2021
6th - Landon Young (T) - backup

2022
5th - D'Marco Jackson (LB) - backup

2023
4th - Nick Saldiveri (G) - injured
5th - Jordan Howden (S) - backup/ST

2024
5th - Spencer Rattler (QB)
5th - Bub Means (WR) - injured
5th - Jaylan Ford (LB) - backup
6th - Khristian Boyd (DT) - backup

It’s def not 2006 and 2017 and a bunch of awful drafts. For example, 2016 draft. Rankind, MT13, Vonn Bell, David Onyemata. We live in a what have you done for me recently and to be honest the drafting especially at the top half of the drafts the last few drafts have been bad.

TE and WR are luxury positions (which makes the Olave deal that much worse).
