I don’t know, sadly, if you can call him an idiot though. He did get “rewarded” shortly thereafter for rigging the outcome the way the NFL wanted it to be, by being named head official for the Super Bowl.
there, fixed it for accuracy
but lets be honest, do we really care that much any more? the NFL is as fake as wrestling and its not even being hidden at this point as game deciding "phantom calls" or non calls like with the saints play, are being used to rig games every single week and now they are using covid BS to rig games as well

He should forever be ashamed of himself for being involved in the worst officiating call in any sport at any level.

There was a pic of one ref going to pull the flag out and another ref running to him telling him no….

Let’s not forget that Bill (from Los Angeles) claimed he didn’t see anything, but there were multiple shots of him staring down the play.
The fact that he hasn't been confronted on this face to face is amazing

The "points of emphasis" code phrase to wave off the other official's flag was "bang bang."

Except that there was never a second bang. The receiver got laid out before he was able to touch the ball and it sailed in the end zone so it was just a bang play.

Well one less person to blame our failures on. Though that was a horrendous call, it's not the reason we don't have a quarterback or drafted any receivers

All I want is one free shot on that side judge.
Son of a b**** was staring right at the play
I would just want to walk up to him and give him that question from the movie The last boy scout.. head or gut?
And then wham

The NFL is entertainment. It's a show. It's not a legitimate competitive sport organization, IMHO.

Know I'm going to get slammed for this ... and in no way defending any of those 3 officials ... but in the Monday Morning Quarterbacking Department, Tommy Lee Lewis didn't help. He didn't protest. He bounced right up and headed for the sideline. EVERY OTHER RECEIVER would have been bitching, moaning, doing the whole fake flag toss. One wonders if even the slightest protest might have prompted the one ref with his hand on the flag to at least throw it.

So, he should have laid out, convulsed, and then go very still to get a flag.
Maybe he was afraid those actions would get him removed from the next game.
It may have worked and NY picks up the phone for PR purposes and tells the refs to change the script.
In overtime, Drew Brees was hit in the face and his WR held on the interception. Another no call.
The 4 Southern California crew had instructions to protect the Los Angeles market and new stadium investment. The Rams had to win.
The no call lacked subtlety but time was running out in the game and the Rams had to win even with some bad publicity.

We should have had their arse whooped before it even got down to one bad call…

Maybe it was because he knew what the outcome was supposed to be ?????
