Aikman makes mistakes, but I like him...think he's a good analyst! To call him an "idiot," as the other poster did, is just dumb.

I called Aikman an idiot, and I stand by it. If you've heard him call games over the years, you'll see how shallow and dumb he really is. He makes Joe Buck look like a brainiac.

In the image here, you can see the umpire does not have a look on it, because he is screened by two other players.

But what about the backfield judge who's in the backfield with the QB - he sure as Hell saw it.

under 2 minutes, only the head referee is behind the play. Although the umpire is the ref most likely to throw the holding flag, the Head Ref still should have had a clear look at the headlock.

Here's a gif of the slow motion replay until you can get up the real time video.

You can see Evans move immediately after the first guy jumps.

The two trolls may say "this is slow motion, still....JUDGMENT CALL IN REAL TIME"

Not true. Refs call is neutral zone 9999/10000 times, unless they have some serious home cooking problems. Which they did.

we got fricked but whats the rule on the guy being over the line when our lineman jumps. even if we jumped late(we didnt), isnt it still against the D because theyre over the line of scrimmage?

frick all 3 of those guys were going to be offsides

If the offensive player jumps late, it's a false start. For it to be a neutral zone infraction the reaction must be immediate and instinctual (or at least look it). Obviously, Jahri was reacting to a defender coming across the line. Horse shite call.

New England is the fricking Alabama of the NFL, Belichick would slit his own mother's throat to win and is an unabashed cheating dick

99% of them couldn't tell you what happened outside of the highlights. Dumbass Chris Berman just said we led the whole game.

I hope LSUandAU comes back and stuffs his face on crow. Left side moved after a hand was in his face what a horrible fricking call that was.

That Pat may have crossed into neutral zone and it looks like he startled o-lineman. On replay from the link, does look like encroachment! Find angle behind o-line. This is a judgement call fellas and the black official mouths "not in neutral zone" it appears. In slo mo, only one Pat moved before o-line. Happened fast!

jesus christ. You can't admit what is right in front of you

it doesn't show anything different. You can clearly see that Evans doesn't move on this one until after the patriot is in the neutral zone. It isn't a judgment call, it was plain as day to anyone watching the game including your beloved aikman

Just so we're clear...

The Pats lineman was in the neutral zone at the time Evans moved.

At this point we are no longer discussing whether or not the penalty should have gone to the pats (it clearly should have), but rather the level of incompetence of the refs on that call.

What did I not admit. I said it appears to be encroachment.

What do you not understand about judgement calls. The ref made a judgement call...more likely than not the wrong judgement, but it happens fast and he is not going over and over a replay. Dude, you don't like the refs judgement and it hurt the Saints, but it is a JUDGEMENT CALL! Look up JUDGEMENT! Not meaning to criticize you personally, but this was the ref's JUDGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Using that logic, every single call is a judgement call.

What this was is a blatant blown call. It wasn't a questionable hold or PI, it was a blatant missed call.
