Good. They need help on defense.

Good. One less D-Line pick.

Will be even funnier when Treadwell is there at #12 and Saints opt for a DE, DT, or OLB.

We just made Willie Sneed a receiver who almost had a 1,000 yard season. Had he not missed a game or two, he'd have done it easily. Willie Sneed.

The team is definitely in love with Coleman, and another year conditioning is what the Saints will want. Get ready for the saints to not draft a receiver in the 1st three rounds.

DE, DT, G

Make it happen.

Good post. Here is a breakdown of how deep each position of need is. These are the number of players projected to go in each round. Still early, so this will change dramatically...but it gives you an idea of where the value is at each position. I used cbssportsline as a reference. We don't have a 6th round pick and I assume we just go BPA in round 7.

DE(18 Total) - Loaded in the 1st 2 rounds. We better get one of these DE's in the 1st or 2nd. We need a starter.
Round 1 - 6
Round 2 - 3
Round 3 - 2
Round 4 - 3
Round 5 - 4

DT(17 Total) - Loaded in the 1st 3 rounds. Need to find a starter at this position.
Round 1 - 5
Round 2 - 3
Round 3 - 3
Round 4 - 2
Round 5 - 4

OLB(17 Total) - 2nd round is loaded, but basically pretty even throughout the draft. No nead to reach for an OLB.
Round 1 - 3
Round 2 - 5
Round 3 - 3
Round 4 - 3
Round 5 - 3

OG(11 Total) - Rounds 2-4 look very good.
Round 1 - 0
Round 2 - 4
Round 3 - 2
Round 4 - 3
Round 5 - 2

WR(27 Total) - Even throughout the draft. Good value later in the draft. No need to reach for a WR.
Round 1 - 3
Round 2 - 6
Round 3 - 6
Round 4 - 6
Round 5 - 6

TE(10 Total) - Might take one if the coaches feel good about him.
Round 1 - 0
Round 2 - 1
Round 3 - 2
Round 4 - 3
Round 5 - 4

the same fools who wanted the saints to lose would have used those losses as ammunition for firing the coach.

I don't think that's right, we would've had the 2nd weakest strength of schedule for 6-10 teams which would've given us the 9th overall pick.

Where this win really hurts is the 2nd round where we would've had the 8th pick instead of the 16th pick.

Losing yesterday was basically meaningless. Had we lost to Jacksonville, then there would have been nothing stupid about hoping for a loss against the Falcons. Worst case we would have had the #7 pick in that case, possibly 6th depending on the tie-breakers.

But hey, the OP likes the extra two wins. Totally worth it....

Every player taken at #6 has been a success!

You would swear this was the case by some of the posters on here. The pro-tanking fans are easily the most annoying.

Either A'Shawn Robinson or Jarran Reed in 1st round.
Shilique Calhoun DE in second round
Pat Elflin OG or Tyler Marz ROT in 3rd
Maurice Canady CB 4th
Kenneth Dixon RB in. 5th
Vi Teofilo G or Dillon Gordon TE 7th

Assuming this is true, you also have to factor in where we would have drafted in the following rounds.

If the Saints lost to Atl:

First round: 11th pick
Second round: 10th pick (would rotate forward in the 6-10 group)
Third round: 9th pick

Saints win:

First round: 12th pick
Second Round: 16th pick (rotate to the back of the 7-9 group)
Third Round: 15th pick

So winning cost the Saints one order spot in the first, six spots in the second, six spots in the third, etc. Now some of those rounds it wouldn't be a six spot difference as the Saints rotated forward in the group, but you get the idea.

In addition, by the Falcons not winning, gained them 2 spots in every round. They are now picking 17th instead of 19th.

Well shite, lets just trade away all of our picks and pick in the 7th round only. Good players have come out of that 7th round ya know.

I'm NOT the moron who is acting like there is some great difference in talent between the 11th and 12th draft picks.... You are.

as a fan, i want to beat the falcons at all costs no matter what. we are not part of the draft or the drafting process. you put faith in ireland and his guys to make it work, no matter where we draft.

us picking 6 spots up in the 2nd and 3rd round does not even come close to giving me as much satisfaction as watching matt ryan fricking choke the game away and getting a sweep on the falcons for the year. there are so many examples of how unpredictable the draft is and will be.

but the fleur de lis shaped shite that now rests in the georgia dome is worth it all.
