If we go back to the vikings playoff game last year the saints lost the game because of their interior o line play. They tried to address this by drafting Ruiz in the offseason. So far, Ruiz hasn't been very good and Peat has been Peat. The vikings moved their D ends inside and had a field day against our guards. McCoy has had a pretty big jump in improvement this year so that's a plus. Peat has played solid when he's played. The issue is he gets hurt every single game. They have to find some consistency inside if they plan on winning a Super bowl. Teams with elite interior D lineman can give us some problems. The rams defense is a nightmare matchup for the saints. The saints defense is also a nightmare matchup for the rams though. But the interior line play is the reason Brees is out right now.

Pay attention to the improvement on the interior offensive line. If this group can play at a higher level down the stretch then the saints are going to win it all.

If this occurs then you have to call plays that get to the edge and then set the edge with a TE or WRs blocking down.

Honestly it is more of a concern when Drew gets back. Taysum and Winston can both get out of the pocket and make plays. Brees needs the pocket and can’t do much with defenders in his face. Hopefully Ruiz gets better come playoff time. Still think we should move Ruiz to center and McCoy out to guard. McCoy is more athletic than Ruiz and can handle both power and speed

Definitely need a heavy dose of this but at some point you will probably need to throw it in the playoffs. They are only going to bring ends in on sure passing downs

I think the play has been inconsistent and yes last year during the Vikings game they exposed warford and Peat (a lot of teams expose him) but i think it’s a bit overblown this year. Ruiz has struggled but he’s also playing a position he’s never played before with no offseason and he was hurt and out for 3 weeks when the actual offseason began. Add injuries to Peat amd Easton and its forces us to shuffle the deck repeatedly. Ruiz has slowly improved each week and our running game has been straight up nasty the last 2 weeks. I see improvement each week and i think they’ll be fine. The deal is not everyone has the pass rushers the Vikings do and they can’t implement that kind of strategy against us with the lack of those certain pass rushers.

I think Ruiz has for sure had one really bad game, maybe 2. I don’t think he is as bad as some on here say. He’ll improve

Easton has graded out pretty well and Peat is great when he’s on.

Ruiz is not really a guard, he needs more time to settle in that role. McCoy is such a good center but I think he could be better than average at guard too and put Ruiz at center where he’s more comfortable. Idk. Line play has been pretty good this year for the most part when they’re healthy. We would only be looking at maybe one other elite d line in the playoffs and that’s the rams. We’ve already seen we can handle the bucs d line.

Guards don’t get fat contacts like left tackle
Center is probably most important spot

We have three bona fide studs on the oline at tackle and center.
One guard is a rookie. One a seasoned vet for back up and one a first rounder who either plays lights out or plays like we wish the lights were out.

In short we have a oline that about 27 other teams would kill for.

I'm a build the team from both lines and I couldn't be happier. We have done it Top five dline and oline in the nfl.

Arguably the most heavily invested position on the team, too

I think with a full offseason and especially if Drew hangs it up the Saints will move Ruiz to C where he’s more comfortable and McCoy to RG. I’m pretty sure McCoy can be just as good at RG as he is at C and playing C takes a little pressure off Ruiz as far as matching up 1 on 1 with elite defensive tackles. I don’t think they wanted to mess with the chemistry that Drew and McCoy developed so they just kept things the same this year. Easton has been way better than I would have thought and he will get another nice contract somewhere this offseason but I doubt it’s with us. He has 2 years left on his deal but he would make $7 million in ‘21 and $8 million in ‘22 and with all the guys we have to re-sign there’s no way we will be able to pay our 3rd G and backup C that much money.

Oh yes we will. Thank God we have him and will for sure need him in the future. I’m sure the Saints realize how injury prone Peat is and besides that like to rotate the guard anyway.

This is going to piss a lot of lsu fans off but Ruiz was the right pick bc Minnesota exposed us last year. Queen has made a few splash plays with his athleticism but he busts on a lot of assignments as well. I am an lsu fan and was in on drafting queen but happy with the Ruiz pick

He’s played center pretty much all of college. Starting a couple games in college at the position doesn’t mean he was a full time guard. Playing guard is new for him snd you can tell.
