I think with a full offseason and especially if Drew hangs it up the Saints will move Ruiz to C where he’s more comfortable and McCoy to RG. I’m pretty sure McCoy can be just as good at RG as he is at C and playing C takes a little pressure off Ruiz as far as matching up 1 on 1 with elite defensive tackles. I don’t think they wanted to mess with the chemistry that Drew and McCoy developed so they just kept things the same this year. Easton has been way better than I would have thought and he will get another nice contract somewhere this offseason but I doubt it’s with us. He has 2 years left on his deal but he would make $7 million in ‘21 and $8 million in ‘22 and with all the guys we have to re-sign there’s no way we will be able to pay our 3rd G and backup C that much money.

We'll probably be able to convince him to stay here & take a little pay cut. At least I hope we can.

We will see if he’s the right pick. We definitely needed a guard. Hopefully with time he figures it all out though. And with our current linebacker duo it seems like that’s handled.

Ruiz played EVERY SNAP last week. Im sure with a few mini camps and training camps, hell be more than fine

I agree that the aggie moves over to guard and ruiz falls in at center next year, just wasnt enough time / reps to make it happen for this covid season

Doing pretty damn good for never having played the position and jumping in with limited to no pre season work

I’ll play devils advocate. Had we drafted Queen then Jonah Jackson in the third, We’d be better and cheaper overall. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

hmmmmm, lets discuss:

Queen would have gotten same money as Ruiz, Jackson would have gotten same money as Baun....

So youre saying that we wouldnt have traded for Kwon if wed have picked Queen?

Correct.

Jackson is a better guard than Ruiz (right now). Queen may not be better than Kwon yet, but he’ll likely get there VERY soon.

I still like the drafting of Ruiz.

I would just have liked it better if Peat was brought back on a cheaper and shorter deal.

I hated the Peat signing. It still boggles me

Good thread and good point.

I guarantee you that the Falcs intend to rush right up the middle to get to the QB.
