I don’t know if that’s true with the saints. Payton’s offense is complicated. I’m not sure an average QB in his first year could pick it up.

Why would they take him? S he could ride the bench forever? Like him or hate him, barring injury, Ryan is not going anywhere for a while.

Just saw a tweet saying Mayfield barely cracked 6 feet. Understanding the infatuation.

Sean does this every single year. Targets a QB very publicly who should be available around our pick. Another team falls for it every time. Helps us move up when other teams think we are targeting someone they don’t want. Or it can help us move back when another team wants to claim the QB Sean says he wants

he problem I see is that Drew Brees doesn't mentor.

He's stated he doesn't discuss tricks of the trade to maintain his competitive advantage.

Charles Robinson's tweet even refers to Brees' competitive nature in that it's not QB-room-charitable.

So after, say two years of bench warming, is it worth giving up a significant portion of this and next years draft class for basically the equivalent a 25 yo rookie?

He doesnt need to mentor. Baker could learn by observing.

He has the skill and on the field leadership to be a franchise QB but the thing I worry about is he does some boneheaded immature crap sometimes. We don't need a headcase like Cam or Jameis. Hoping he matures a bit when he gets in the pros

Look at Denver.

Having a great team doesn't mean shite if you don't have a good QB.

Denver won a Super Bowl in spite of terrible QB play.

Exactly. If Baker is there in the mid teens I absolutely say go for it. Fill needs in FA as much as you can and go BPA in the draft.

Sign Drew to a 2 year deal, let Baker sit and learn the offense. If Brees goes down you have him to step in and get some experience. I think he's talented enough to keep us in games with the surrounding cast we have.

Except he’s not the same “drew freaking Brees.” There’s a reason Nick Foles carved up a defense for 4 quarters that shut brees down for a half. Go get baker

He lit up Georgia. The kid is Drew minus the maturity. That's the big picture.

Instead of that, why isn't he Manziel 2.0?

Man I hate this idea. Drew looked damn good outside of the first quarter of the Vikings game. Get him some help, build the roster which will help now and in 2 years or so when he retires.

Trade the damn farm to move up for the next guy after you’ve built up your roster and are further away from the cap strapped years.

The Chiefs gave up the 27th, a 3rd and a first next year to move up 17 spots. The Saints can do the same.

Coach Ditka!? Is that you?
