I love it.

Don’t pay the veterans.

Stack young guys at skilled positions and use the $ in the trenches.

Bye Olave.

An undersized TE who runs a sub 4.5, he wasn't drafted to block.

Does not necessarily mean Olave is on his way out. Olave, if healthy, should be an even better player surrounded by all the new talent.

Delp is 245 lbs. You didn't take that guy at TE in the 3rd round with the intention of blocking for Etienne, you took him for his good hands and speed (remembering Juwan Johnson dropped a bunch of passes last year).

So the OP said 4 receivers; you're looking at Delp's receiving skills more than being a road grader.

George Kittle was 247 pounds when he was drafted and is the of the centerpieces of the 49’ers run game under Shanahan.

First of all Delp can put on weight. Secondly with a creative play caller a TE doesn’t have to be a 280 pound quasi o linemen to help in the run game. That’s a very 2005 mindset.

In the modern game it’s all about misdirection and versatility not raw size

Here's his profile

Overview
Delp is a fluid athlete with the forward lean, short-area quickness and pure speed to beat linebackers on intermediate routes. His soft hands and smooth catch skills show up on the move, though his short arms and inconsistent finish through contact limit his reliability. He has enough toughness and technique to help in the run game as he improves his strength. Delp projects as a Day 3 prospect with three-down potential and untapped upside as a pass catcher.

Strengths
Good forward lean and early acceleration into his routes.
Short-area quickness with the ability to uncover on outs, stop routes and crossers.
Pure speed to beat linebackers matched on him in man coverage.
Catches with soft hands and adequate extension to meet the throw.

Uses choppy settle steps and good hand strikes into base blocks.
Creates leverage with proper bend and lift technique.

Weaknesses
Short arms lead to challenges rescuing off-frame throws.
Inconsistent finishing catches through heavy contact.
Average elusiveness to add yards after the catch.
Needs to get stronger in his upper body for blocking duties.
Caught leaning too far forward when getting into blocks.

They straight out state most of his strengths are on the catching side, and he needs to get stronger in blocking.

Jeez, yall some defensive mofos

edit to add- I'm not bitching about the pick, I'm saying he was drafted with his pass-catching skills as a focus. As OP stated, "4 receivers drafted". He didn't say WIDE receiver, he said receiver. As in guy who will catch passes.

Bye Olave

I mean, Olave has had 3 1000+ yard seasons in his first 4 years and would probably have 4 if not for missing 9 games in his second season. He has his issues here and there, but he has been a bright spot through some really terrible offense for most of the last 4 years.

A 6’5 245lb TE is undersized? Are you high

FYI: taller and weighed more than Brock Bowers.

Yes it does.

Let someone else pay him.

Well the thing is he's known for his good blocking. He's big. Fast. Blocks well. A top five TE in this draft. FWIW

That WR Bryce Lance looks like a Stud.
Not just his speed. But his catch, YAC and catch radius.

This WR core looks promising.

I was pleased with the pick. I'm not downing him. I think he was taken as an upgrade over what we had, because that was critical. We saw way too many big plays happen where Juwan Johnson was the target, and he didn't step up enough. We probably beat Miami if he catches a very catchable pass. We need a better TE.

My only point in the comment is that he wasn't some mammoth extra tackle being brought in to upgrade the running game, and oh BTW he might catch 15 passes a season. He's a guy I would expect to get targeted 6-8 times a game as a safety net, that provides a legit dangerous option at the TE spot, that maybe we can rely on.

Tyson and Delp will be key additions on offense right away. I expect Brown to be the return guy. I think Lance has a lot of potential, he's tall in addition to being fast.

Hence, we're adding 4 receivers (weapons) for the QB we have. Which is what the OP said.
